The Coral Sea lies next to the Great Barrier Reef. Why don't we know more about it?

"Australian scientists have found "incredibly high coral cover" in deeper sections of the Coral Sea relatively undisturbed by fishing and sedimentary run-off."

Nice to get some not negative news - did the article say anything about the coral species types in the deeper water? I am assuming they are different species and probably will NOT recolonize the warmer, shallower (more acidic?) areas? Fish are way more mobile.
