Privacy minded cloud storage provider
I’m looking for a paid cloud storage provider (like google drive, but not google drive) which is privacy minded, so with features like e2e encryption. I’ve been using Jottacloud to backup my large collection of photos. Jottacloud has been satisfactory, but I’ve heard other users complain of incomplete backups, where...
google maps alt?
there's osm, but that doesn't have the convenience of being able to just chuck in a place and have it tell me how to drive there, which I need if I'm at a red light and need to know how to get somewhere. ty :)

What are the best zoom alternatives? (nitter.net)
After this announcement, I am planning to reject meetings organised in zoom. But the problem is that it’s really good. So, is there any privacy friendly and viable alternatives to zoom? It does not have to be open source because I nearly tried all alternatives. Your experiences?

Aside from the lack of E2EE, why is Telegram not trustworthy?
A lot of privacy guides suggest avoiding Telegram. I understand that in its default mode there’s no E2EE (and no E2EE for groups at all). If people I know don’t wanttko use Signal, isn’t Telegram the lesser evil given it’s nicer privacy policy (than other popular ones)?...

Standard notes: what about don’t put all your eggs in one basket rule?
If the owner of the standard notes will now be a proton, doesn’t that contradict this principle? I have a proton email account but I don’t want it linked to my standard notes account. I don’t strongly trust companies that offer packaged services like google or Microsoft. I prefer to have one service from one company. I am...

"How to bypass and block infuriating cookie popups" 🙄🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Oh the hilarious irony. Can anyone recommend an up to date Firefox addon that gets rid of these fucking popups, automatically declining all but necessary? I've looked at a few but I remember folks here recommending some that I can't now for the life if me remember what they were. Thanks!

anybody have a solution for a legitimate caller ID and spam blocking service for android phones?
Hi all, through my experience, the third party apps that are supposed to do this a pure trash. I mean true caller was pretty decent, but it was packed with ads and trackers of course and the overbearing permissions that constantly tries hijacking my set SMS and dialer apps… I don’t think using a third party app is the right...
Recommendation for webcam that doesn't push its software?
Hi, I’m on Windows 10 at home and Windows 11 at work. I’m going to migrate to Linux for my next PC (might eventually do it on this one, though I’ve currently done so many tweaks that I intend to keep this for gaming for now). Our two laptops and mini-PC already run Linux Mint, but I digress… (I just don’t want anyone...
