Is there a good privacy respecting rss feed reader?

I want to set up a RSS feed for me to subscribe to some websites. I am a newbie and never used RSS before. I found Raven Reader, which is open source. But I don’t know of it’s trustworthy, too.

I would also be grateful for information on how safe it is to use RSS in general concerning privacy, e.g. can my feed be tracked from websites?

Read You on Android, and Newsboat on linux.

recreationalplacebos,

On Android, I use Feeder and Nunti. Both are open source and available on f-droid.

Do you need it to be online ? On local I use quiterss an rsync to sync my feeds between devices if needed. You can also use syncthings to do that without scripting.

For the second asking, every site can track you even with RSS (update frequency, open articles or not etc). You can also disable JavaScript with quiterss, and then filtering the sources of value too, I guess ^^"

reddig33,

What platform? I find NetNewsWire to work well on iOS and MacOS. I haven’t heard anything privacy-invading about it. Its been around for years. It’s also open source and free on the app stores, so that means it’s been somewhat vetted.
