Star Wars Lemmy communities

Should we maybe takeover unmoderated and inactive ones (such as !starwars ), pin a post to redirect to this one, and lock them?

That would help new joiners and avoid having them posting to an inactive community

Yeah, your post there will do the job.

Same needs doing to !swgoh

When you are making a post and searching for communities, when there are duplicates, it’s never clear which is the active one.

PS: I DM’d you for something else, feel free to have a look when you have some time (I know I tend to miss mine quite a lot)

Cheers. I do often miss them - it’s better to hit me up on Matrix as I get a clearer alert.

Blaze,

I did too, is your Matrix address still the one in your profile?

Emperor,

It is indeed.

I was thinking about doing a more “coercive” approach and lock the community. We can maybe reach out to LW admins as most of the inactive communities seem to be on their instance

Oh definitely turn them Mod only too. As they are duplicates on the same instance it should be no big deal. The originals should have been taken over but we now have to deal with the hand we are dealt.

Bl4ze,

@Rooki, @MrKaplan and @kersploosh, is this something you could help us with?

Long story short, the following communities are inactive and the unmoderated, we are thinking about locking them, could you please do that?

TV and film:

Games:

I’d only suggest locking the duplicates for now.

If the others are open then they can always be jollied back into life. If there is a Star Wars instance, then we could shut them down and point people in the right direction.

I will make more of an effort to post to some of them (figures, collecting, Legion, SWGoH and the TV shows especially) as well as get them better federated (90% weren’t showing up on my home instance so I have dragged them over).

What I’d suggest is:

  • closing the duplicates.
  • checking the activity of the Mods and stepping in where they are inactive.
  • working to improve the others.

Just a quick run through (work in progress):

Duplicates on same instance - shut them down:

Inactive Mods - get new Mods:

Not needed at the moment:

  • !starwarswhatif - no Mods at all. As this is based on potentially unreliable information it might be best to shut this down - the TV instance can deal with this until there’s solid news

Thanks for the run through

Still working on it and it depends in the l.w Admin’s policy on inactive Mods. I’ve been going through the feddit.uk communities seeing what needs attention, I’ve already added two Mods to a couple of communities and will shut down a couple more.
