Dune. You can’t capture the complexities of that book in a movie. You can smudge a lot details into scenes of Timothée Chalamet staring intensely at beautiful CGI scenery, but it misses a lot.
They could change the events to keep it fresh, maybe even change the characters (they do seem to do that). and create a whole new mind-boggling maze of timelines. As long as they explained who was from which timeline I'd be happy.
I guess I’m starting with a book technically but Battle Royale would have made a better TV series than movie, the movie doesn’t have time to delve into that many characters and the little side characters are what made the book so good.
