It's funny though... He definitely is a Republican... because the things he says AFTER about "How great America used to be" is also bullshit.
"We stood up for what was right" - Colonialism? Jim Crow? Segregation? Tulsa Massacre? Civil rights?? C'mon, man.
"We fought for moral reasons" - The ONLY reasons we we entered WWI was because Germany was beating England. The ONLY reasons we entered WWII was because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, and Hitler was beating England. All the other wars were against "communism". That's hardly a "moral" reason to go to war.
"We waged wars on poverty, not poor people" - This is the only thing he says that is almost correct, but we didn't win the war on poverty. It was all for show.
"We sacrificed, we cared about our neighbors" - Only if they were white.
"We put our money where our mouths were" - For white people only.
"We never beat our chest" - This one, I just... I just can't even. Really? Really? There are people who believe this?!?
"We didn't scare so easily" - Red Scare, anyone? Cold War, anyone? Brutal suppression of the labor movement, anyone? Brutal suppression of civil rights, anyone?
Jesus. Literally the only thing he says that's correct here is that America is NOT the greatest country.
This is from HBO's 2012 HBO show "The Newsroom", well before Trump. Jeff Daniels plays a republican news anchor who struggles to play to the ratings, never taking sides, but the premise of the show takes off when they want to stop pandering to ratings and actually produce factual news.
An amazing show, especially the first season. Really puts American politics and media into focus, where views and clicks are more important than facts.
This is a good video, it's an hour but if people have time I recommend it. Reddit really is shooting themselves in the foot.
Yeah, only a few people may leave now, but it shows that when the core conversation leaves the "fluff" can only sustain you for so long. Facebook lost it's core userbase "Friends wanting to hang out with friends" and it's more or less on life support with ads and marketers, no one goes there to see people they care about anymore.
When the conversation around communities leaves reddit, or people here there's a better conversation happening elsewhere (hopefully here), people will leave to find the better conversation.
no wonder the us has massive obesity and cardiovascular related issues, i literally had to drink like 1.5 liters of water while watching this video bc the sweeteness was too much to bear 😅
