Some new @codysimpson pics put up earlier. Something's telling me to post and comment -- especially since he didn't give them any description. 24 days until the #AustralianOlympicTrials
Really like the second shot with the air bubble floating to the surface.
Emma has some good advice for him... "Be the butterfly"
He may have heard that one before.
A behind-the-scenes short compilation video of @codysimpson as he engages in a few different gym training weight exercises with less than one month to go before the start of the #AustralianOlympicTrials .
Nice touch with having "Part The Seas" as the soundtrack -- one of my favs. Tempo is sync'd nicely with many of the movements, so a great choice.
Made my first mix CD in about four years recently. My car is just old enough (2006 model year, but assembled in 2005) that they hadn't installed either an MP3 decoder nor an aux port in it to use phones or other devices to play music from. I do have an FM transmitter I can use, if needed.
First song I put on this new CD was @codysimpson 's demo of "Kirra", which I really like -- even in it's rawest form. Will be interesting to see how it gets arranged in the future. #music#mixCD
With about one month to go before the #AustralianOlympicTrials, @codysimpson is nearly in the homestretch to make the trek to Brisbane. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear less from him over the coming weeks as he perhaps gets "sequestered", to some degree. But, based on how active he was prior to Commonwealth, there's no guarantee about that happening.
A few of @codysimpson 's latest pics, with my annotations.
He's no doubt laser-focused on the #swim with just over a month to go before the #AustralianOlympicTrials
As the countdown continues for @codysimpson 's short drive to Brisbane for a rather important series of swim events in June, he's been brutally hard at work in the gym, in the pool, and in his mind as he prepares for whatever destiny awaits him there.
Here are my observations from three of his most recent posted photos...
It's been a little while since I've posted up (and described) pics of @Codysimpson ...
Let me rectify that absence, now.
I see you Codes, even though I haven't been saying anything.
Hopefully we'll see your Threads account become visible here very shortly.
Congrats on another book -- that's a cool addition to your author titles.
Keep up the pace -- and yes -- you can't lose, no matter what happens.
Colour photo of Cody Simpson as he holds a copy of his soon-to-be-released children's book "The Sea In Me" in his hands, just above his right leg. Codes has a wide smile on his face as he wears a simple white t-shirt as we see mainly the flora of his back yard behind him. Cody's original description: This is my children’s picture book ‘The Sea In Me’. A story of finding your calm amidst the hustle of everyday life, inspired by the peace I’ve found in the ocean since I was a little boy. A message to share with young ones and adults alike! Pre-order at the link in my bio. Coming soon.. @penguinbooksaus
Colour photo of Cody Simpson as he stands on the creme-coloured tiled deck of an outdoor pool, under a mainly cloudy sky. Codes has both of his arms held up in the air with his hands in fists (giving some Popeye the Sailor vibes, albeit with more muscle), as he points them towards his head. He's quite literally pumped about his level of activity in the pool during this period (last week of March), with the specific numbers listed in his description below. Codes is wearing his Commonwealth swim brief, with the white drawstring extended out in front. We can see three of the swim blocks behind Codes, all of which are covered with "No Diving" bags, as a dedicated period of squad training is in progress (as indicated by another sign off to the lower right). Cody's original description: 12 session week and nearly 60km later.. eating it the hell up! Proud to have brought myself to this level of fitness over the past 3 and a half years. Prouder still to be Australian Dolphin #838 and to have represented my country in the fine sport of swimming.
An additional thought that's been on my mind about @CodySimpson 's swimming the past few days: somehow I wouldn't be surprised if after this year four push concludes, Codes might not quite be done with the pool, after all. Yes, I would tend to think he'll take a "rest" for a while -- but there's another event on the far off horizon (at this point) that he could, once again, strive for after a well deserved "art break"...
Yeah, don't worry about trying to get pics and vids of yourself during training, @CodySimpson -- it's less about doing it for the cameras or for the glamour of it. As long as you can record some stories or talk about them after this extreme phase of your life has concluded, that will be more than enough. We do appreciate the glimpses you have shown us as they let us know you're doing everything to push as hard as you can. #AustralianOlympicTrials#Swimming#Dolphins
Cody makes lots of good points and comparisons to what he's going through right now to past events, most notably how his time on Broadway was the closest in terms of effort required.
These two recent snaps, posted by Emma McKeon, give us a good idea of a (presumably) typical evening and morning in the lead-up phase to both her and @CodySimpson 's quest of the 2024 Australian Swimming Trials. They sure do both love their coffee!
Colour photo of @CodySimpson (likely taken by Emma McKeon) where he is seated at a small oak table, eating a hearty-looking breakfast from a swirled desert sand-coloured earthenware bowl (with matching plate beneath), that consists of sliced banana, strawberry, almond, and possibly granola. Behind Codes is a rather striking red neon/LED sign that spells out "I LOVE YOU A LATTE", which is affixed to the white and narrow vertically-panelled wall. It just so happens that Cody has a coffee to go along with his breakfast that has been "decorated" with some latte art. This cup and saucer is just off to the left of the bowl and plate, and is made of a similarly-colored material. Codes is wearing a familiar hat (a dark blue/black New York Yankees baseball cap) along with a black t-shirt, with his Dr. Hydrate name printed on the upper-right. We also see a small seating bench behind Cody, with a taupe-coloured cushion and a few square throw pillows, one a navy blue, the other a close match to the desert sand dinnerware. To the right, is a taller wall-connected bistro table, with matching high-backed stool, and several items affixed to the wall above, including a cross and a very interesting small painting of a mermaid, with a red "tail".
It's pretty obvious just how much of a transformation @CodySimpson has gone through over his adult swim quest. The first pic is from October 2019 -- just as he was getting into competitive training.
Second one is from June 2022 -- prior to the Commonwealth Games.
And, the third is February 2024.
If I only had the motivation, encouragement, & drive to get to where he was in 2019 (even partially), I'd be thrilled. But, I'll let Codes harness whatever drive I have, instead. He can use it best.
Noticed something about a pic @codysimpson posted a few months ago, that appears to be from his trip to Germany for the World Cup of Swimming. He was browsing an outdoor market and tried on this black and turquoise 80s/90s-style crinkly track jacket. Made me think of another kinda similar one he once wore, I think at New York Fashion Week in 2019...
Cody likes turquoise and shine.
. @codysimpson has shown his support through the purchase of a silver vaquita pendant and vaquita printed hoodie, which is a collaboration with #SeaShepherd whom are protecting the critically endangered species, which live in the northern end of the Gulf of California. Thank you for allowing us to learn of the plight of the #vaquita .
Thank you to @codysimpson for another brief glimpse into what you've been enduring in the run-up to the Australian Olympic Trials taking place in less than four months from now. My deepest respects and offer of encouragement in your massive grind. Appreciate hearing some of the numbers to help us understand the time being dedicated to your quest.
I'm in the process of transcribing all of young #PrinceNeptune 's published works of poetry and prose into my log book. I've had a copy of PN sitting on my table for several weeks and thought that would be a good thing to do. Wrote in Code 31, 32, 33, & 34 this morning. The last line from Code 30 sums up what his counterpart @CodySimpson is going through right now, especially in the #Paris2024 homestretch.
Transcribed #PrinceNeptune Codes 46, 47, and 48 just now. Must say 40 & 46 have some similarities, although the former gives you a sense of what our earth will be like if we do not get climate change under control. The latter reminds me of a slightly more pleasant "Brave New World". I do wonder whom Nep was quoting in Code 48. Feeling some definite Kerouac vibes from how it's written. Maybe Nep is quoting his alter ego, @codysimpson ... that would be interesting.
Put down #PrinceNeptune Codes 73 & 75 this morning. Guess you could unofficially title 75 as "Eager For Everything", since each stanza ends on that. Line 2 is the title of a song I've heard many times before.
I did also record Code 74. It's untitled, but are the original verses for "Golden Thing", which had a few added to round it out as a @codysimpson track. That song envisions Codes playing his guitar on the grassy hill https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmFX6xVWR3I
Ah... with @CodySimpson posting that short segment from #UNDP, thought I'd upload the full version that was included on the Play It Out Concert to Beat Plastic Pollution from 2019, which includes the words on screen as he walks amongst the rocks. He was still driving his Falcon Wagon at the time of the recording, too. I am constantly re-evaluating my need for plastics, and try to reduce or eliminate them from my daily life.
Will hopefully get my first electric vehicle in late 2025. #GlobalGoals
Cool to see Codes had a nice bday outing at an Intercontinental Hotel. I won't post the photos he already did, since my mind is tired at the moment. Sorry I didn't mention it sooner, but I've had some low periods the past few days, kinda since late Friday. I'd expect his duet/cover/remix request is being well received by fans. #CodySimpson#OnMyMind
Interesting to see @CodySimpson got himself a cool/cold/ice water tub to go along with his infrared sauna. He's done the cold shock therapy before in bathtubs with ice, but now has a dedicated vessel right next to his sauna. Can just imagine how that sort of change affects the body and feels...
It's common in snowy climates, like Scandinavia, to have outdoor saunas, with people going outside to roll in the snow, then back in the sauna. Guess that would offer a similar experience.
It's CodySimpson@threads.net 's bday, so posting a few pics that, I think, tell a story of his life over roughly the past decade, which showcase some interests, goals, & dreams he's been able to pursue. He certainly is a hard yakka when it comes to music and the pool, perhaps bordering on a dag, at times, but he'd never be one in terms of his fashion sense. He's a fair dinker in those silver daks! Grab yourself a nice coldie today. I can't call him a cobber, yet, but maybe one day. Good on ya!
And, here, twenty years later, is the full #Olympic flame lighting ceremony from the ruins of The Temple Of Hera in Olympia, Greece to kick off the torch relay for #Rio2016, of which @CodySimpson was one of the bearers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lF1KEOh-BY&t=2569s
A bit higher quality than what I have (plus being complete). A cool thing to witness, even from afar.
Reminds me of #PrinceNeptune 's Code #50 once again
"We may wear different clothes, but we wear the same sun."
Ah... found a video that shows both @CodySimpson and his sister Alli prior to and during the #Rio2016 Olympic torch relay discussing their thoughts on participating in it. I won't link to it, since it was put up by a large corporation, but will include screenshots to illustrate.
I like @CodySimpson 's comments on this video:
"...I gotta couple mates I used to swim competitively -- I got a couple mates I used to train with, uh, racing, umm, ah, this weekend and and next week and will be able to see them--see them compete is gonna be pretty rad."
Also:
"It's one of those things that, you know, I feel like falls like so far kinda outside of anything that, that you can kinda ever imagine yourself doing, and, and uh, to be kinda presented with an opportunity like that is, you know, something that is really one of those once in a lifetime opportunities." - @CodySimpson in 2016 -- as he looks towards the upcoming Australian Olympic Swim Trials in June -- prior to #Paris2024
I must say that @CodySimpson is so fortunate to have Alli as a sister. They are seemingly so connected as family, I think that's been a huge benefit to him in so many ways. That's in stark contrast to myself, as I'm an only child, at least where I live. I do have a half sister & half brother with both living their lives in California. They are "family" and we do certainly share some traits, but they have been a small footnote in my life. Distance, especially in the past, has tended to do that.
