Zedge comes to mind. A site for buying ringtones (among other things like notification tones and wallpapers) or at least barred you from downloading the “premium” ones without subscription.

I use it since they cripple the NSFW access for 3rd party apps, and most of my front page are videos, it loads so… slooww… and tapping one video will bring you to this tiktok-like interface where if you swipe up it’ll load the next video in that subreddit instead of the next post in my front page.

comparing that to Sync for Reddit that doesn’t experience any stutter and loads the video blazing fast, the experience really feels like a downgrade…

there are also the little stuffs like less customizability for color schemes, hiding awards, comment padding, font sizes, font styles, etc.

is there a way to see the front page or list of communities of an instance without getting out of the instance you're currently in ?

For now, I can only visit a community from another server by searching or opening a post from that server, if I open it in the post’s original server or if I open their site, I’ll be in another lemmy instance and I’ll have no account there, so I can’t really interact....

nah, I want to see just the communities specifically inside one instance, like just browsing lemmy.ml and see communities (and what’s trending) in lemmy.ml only without leaving lemmy.world.

edit: on that note, it’ll be nice if that communities/all can be filtered

yes, that’s what’s I’ve been using, and I know I can see posts from all instances if I just browse All instead of Local

what I’m kind of looking for (and wondering) is that a way to… uh, like, check? on another instance, and see what hot posts are trending there just on their front page without getting mixed and competing for places in /All

so for example, I’m here on lemmy.world, and after browsing a while I got curious on what’s trending on sh.itjust.works, so I go to shi.tjust.works and I can see all the currently hot posts only on shit just works without me getting logged out because I have no account on shitjustworks.

in lack of better words, maybe emulating (or simulating?) a ‘centralized’ feel, ya feel me?

Don’t know about lemmy, but on kbin you can go to /d/lemmy.world to see what appears to be something like a frontpage of lemmy.world.

This is exactly what I’m talking about, still a little janky maybe because the activitypub sites (Kbin, Lemmy, Mastodon) don’t work quite the same? Maybe if it’s between the same–what’s the term? software?–like kbin to kbin can be more seamless.

Hope Lemmy can implement something similar in the future
