Depends on whom you mean by west, some western nations condemned the genocide but there was a lot of government propaganda white washing the mass murder. So it is difficult for outsiders to see through all of the misinformation. In addition all of tigray was under medival siege, they turned off the internet, phone, electricity, so information didnt get out.
almost a million civilians were murdered, hundreds of thousands of children and women were raped by abiy ahmed and isayas afwerki’s troops aswell as amhara militia from a neighboring state.
Tbh the genocidal rethoric was rampant against tigrayans for years before. there were anti-tigrayan pogroms in amhara state 3 years before this conflict started, including blockades of roads to tigray, murder of tigrayan citizens in amhara state by rabid mobs.
A lot of the genocidal propaganda was stirred up from outside the country, people who live in western democracy and enjoy the peace and freedom here only to deny it people over there…
As far as reports the same is true for other places, like say sudan which now has also massacres sponsored by the UAE/Saudis and other outside actors… same as with the tigrayan genocide which was also bankrolled by UAE / Saudis /and countries like canada

twelve months, each divided into three ten-day weeks called décades. The tenth day, décadi, replaced Sunday as the day of rest and festivity. The five or six extra days needed to approximate the solar or tropical year were placed after the final month of each year and called complementary days. This arrangement was an almost exact copy of the calendar used by the Ancient Egyptians, though in their case the year did not begin and end on the autumnal equinox.
A period of four years ending on a leap day was to be called a “Franciade”. The name “Olympique” was originally proposed[8] but changed to Franciade to commemorate the fact that it had taken the revolution four years to establish a republican government in France.[9]
The leap year was called Sextile, an allusion to the “bissextile” leap years of the Julian and Gregorian calendars, because it contained a sixth complementary day.
