The website ShadowStats.com offers alternatives. It calculates inflation in the way it was done in the 1980s. It comes up with astounding results that produce inflation numbers that are generally twice the official data. This strikes me as far more accurate. You can see an explanation of this on its website.
And yet even that doesn’t exhaust all the problems.

Putting this out there and asking for wisdom.

Does anyone have relatives who ask you for things and put you on the spot where you feel like you're being selfish if you say, 'no'?

I love my SIL to pieces, but every time I have her over she's straight out asking me for things. My clothes, my home decor, my furniture, etc.

It's frustrating because over the 25± years she's been in our family, I regularly give her and her kids great gifts. And not just on Christmas, either.

Your concerns not being selfish are unfounded. Never forget; God helps those that help themselves!

Saying NO is a great way to make her become more responsible. So yes you are an enabler.

IMO, your anger is you know deep down she is using you and you are mad at YOU!
