Goronmon,

The title feels a bit off. I doubt very many of the subreddits have actually "relocated". As the site itself states, these are just lists of alternatives that provide topics that match existing subreddits.

Most of the subreddits mentioned are still going to be active (especially in comparison to their alternatives) for the foreseeable future.

Goronmon,

I think you've summarized the biggest problem with Halo currently. Even if you enjoy the game, its one if those games you play for a while, maybe beat the campaign and then move into other games.

It just doesn't feel like a flagship title anymore. And if it wasn't for the Halo name it would be even more forgettable then it is now.

Hoping Starfield won't force me into base-building / micromanaging like Fallout 4 did

I loved Fallout 4 but one of my least favorite aspects of it was how it forced me into base building when I pretty much wasn't interested in that aspect of the game. I get Bethesda was doing something new and wanted to show it off, but it was so annoying being so prevalent in a lot of the main missions of that game. I'm really...

Goronmon,

I was a big fan of the settlement building in Fallout 4. Was one of the mechanics that kept me coming back for later playthroughs and made the world feel less static and that I could actually have an impact on it. Especially instances like seeing one of the supply chain NPCs from one of my settlements walking around in the world.

Goronmon,

I really hope they fix the case sensitivity on kbin soon.

Goronmon,

There is at least a decent advantage in the flip phones of having the screen protected when the phone isn't in use. I could see them potentially becoming more popular over time if they are improved upon and become cheaper, if only for that reason.

Goronmon,

Arm-chair babbling idiot who plays too much video games here, I am one hundred percent convinced that it has nothing to do with visual fidelity and everything to do with that asthmatic engine they've been dragging since Morrowind.

Code doesn't go bad with time, that's not really how it works. And game engines tend to be a Ship of Theseus situation, where just because it's still the same "engine" in theory, doesn't mean that large parts (or all of it), haven't eventually been replaced or refactored over the years.

Unreal Engine has been around for 30 years at this point, would you also consider that an "asthmatic engine"?

Goronmon,

I mean sure but give us the choice, damn it! :(

Depends on what is causing the framerate issues. If it's usual fidelity (resolution, draw distance, visual effects) then yes, they can provide options for those.

If the framerate issues are due to physics, NPC/interactions, state-management then it's unlikely they could or would want to provide options around that type of limitation.

Goronmon,

Scaling up as a game developer (or any software company) is hard, but not "it takes a decade and half a billion dollars" hard.

Goronmon,

Always important to remember that lots of opinions people are posting online are just things they read somewhere and are repeating.

Goronmon,

Open world games like Skyrim are hard to make, and modern expectations are making them even harder.

People are shitting on Bethesda for taking so long, but no other developer has managed to make a worthy competitor in the decade+ since Skyrim released.

Goronmon,

Kingdom Come is a solid game, but it's also still a very narrow game compared to Skyrim. You play as a specific character and the "sandbox" nature of the game is much more limited.

It's more like the Witcher where you can roleplay slight variations on one person, rather than Skyrim where you can role-play as a vast array of potential characters.

Goronmon,

Windows and IE was an issue was an issue because of monopoly concerns when it came to the PC OS market and browsers.

Are you concerned that Microsoft will have a monopoly in the console gaming market if the Activision deal goes though?

Goronmon,

Or they just don't care what niche communities think about pre-ordering and they just play their games and enjoy them?

Goronmon,

Why are people preordering a DIGITAL, BETHESDA game?! It’s still the Creation Engine (Creation Engine 2 so hopefully they fixed it!) so it’s probably gonna be a buggy mess at release.

Unlike most online gaming communities, there are many people in the world that enjoy playing video games. So, when they see a game that looks fun to play, they buy it or pre-order it.

Goronmon,

The people that preorder clearly aren’t listening

Or they are listening and just don't care.

Goronmon,

Yeah, it's strange to think that even outside of Bethesda no one has really been able to come close to replicating the gaming experience you get with Skyrim. I still end up booting it up now and then when I'm in the mood because if I want that style of game that's all there really is (not including Morrowind/Oblivion of course).

Goronmon,

Authoritarians really don't like when it they can't control communication, which definitely includes creative expression in media. Games fall under that umbrella so the government is going to do what it needs to in order to keep enough control over the media in question.

The "reasons" why aren't really important and will be figured out and thrown around as needed. But it really just comes down to control.

Goronmon,

Is there any expectation that PoE2 is anything but large-ish patch to the original game? I haven't seen anything that says to expect any significant differences from the current game.

Goronmon,

Fighting what you perceive as racism but pushing your own racist views seems like a strange stance to take. But I would be lying if I said I was surprised.

Goronmon,

Yet, racist westerners continue to regurgitate it because it fits perfectly with their chauvinistic world view. American media doesn’t just portray eastern countries harshly, it lies shamelessly about them.

Right there. If we are going by the rule of "Being critical of a country or group of people makes you racist" then statements such as that would surely qualify.

Goronmon,

D4 feels more like a sequel to D2 than it does to D3. The style and feel is much more in line with the older titles.

The story I think is pretty solid, and though I haven't played all the ARPGs out there, it's the best one I've seen, and it's presented well.

The open world gives you a good mix of activities between the main story quests, and there are lots of side quests that you can get side-tracked with.

It's also a really polished game overall, performs well (at least on the Series X), and they've provided a decent baseline of content for a launch. Though I can't speak to the longevity or end-game activities yet.

But overall, I'd say it's almost incomparably better at launch than D3 was. As though it was made by a different company. Biggest question is how ActiBlizz handles monetization and how well they are able to improve and build upon the foundation going forward.
