Love SnowRunner, and i do play it mostly with podcast or stream open on second screen. Wish I could have a real manual transmission with clutch and all, chassis flexing and better asphalt friction. These would make it even more amazing

How is running a game with proton different in Steam and Lutris?

I have had numerous cases where a non-Steam game would run perfectly through Steam with Proton but the same game wouldn’t even launch through Lutris, even though I used the exact same Proton version. How are they different? Is there anything that Steam does in the background that Lutris won’t?...

Proton is basically just a version of Wine but Steam has other runtime apps like Pressure Vessel that work together making the game run. Don’t know if Lutris has anything else than managing and running the apps in the Wine prefix with specified Wine version. This is as deep as my knowledge goes.

It works if you manage to get around the initial setup. The Text-to-speech narrator thing crashes the game unless you figure out the right Proton version to use (i already forgot, ProtonDB might be of help). And all my joysticks have worked ootb.

Vatsim does work, i used SteamTinkerLaunch to first install the programs on the MSFS wine prefix with Onetime Run. You can use that to run the programs too before you run the game or add them to Custom Command setting to run along the game when you start it.

Sora shaders work fairly well with distant horizons. It doesn’t look as good as no shaders but still amazing

Fair, the one block machines do be magical and easy. And the engineering is different - for one block magic machines it’s along the lines of “which machines i need to automate this recipe”. With Create it’s like “How do I get this machine working optimally and how to use it in automation”, at least it felt like that in E6E
