I can't be the only one that constantly has Time Machine on my mac fuck up doing backups. It's stuck in the Preparing to Backup -> YOU DIDN’T DO A BACKUP loop again.

I have a strong dislike for magic in software, especially when there isn't a fallback button to force something to happen and/or tell me why the fuck it can't. ARGH.

@mtothevizzah @neilhenning once a year, eh? You're doing well! I was up to once every couple of weeks before I gave up and switched away from Time Machine, sigh.

@cek @mtothevizzah @neilhenning sorry, missed this earlier. I'm afraid I rather shifted the goalposts by switching to putting everything I want to back up and/or replicate into a shared cloud drive. In this case https://www.pcloud.com. They do the virtual drive thing, so you can set a cap on how much disk it's using, even if the total storage replicated in the cloud is much bigger.

@cek @mtothevizzah @neilhenning And then I have various things on the NAS (git repo, media, various archives) that get backed up to Amazon Glacier, and also replicated to a partner NAS, one in Machynlleth and one in London. I figure it's unlikely that both burn down/are flooded/destroyed in an alien invasion at once :)

Spending our 30th anniversary in Walla Walla - a wine town in Washington State. Biggest surprise so far - walking to Safeways! I thought this sort of walkable mixed use planning was illegal in America these days etc...
