Excited to have an interview on my university website due to my doctoral thesis on Czech news representations now being official!
(The link goes to my intro chapter mainly, if you would actually like the whole thesis in one pdf, send direct message, please.)

Three lessons out of four cancelled today. Fortunately I still get paid for two of them. And even more fortunately, the one that went ahead was my "Child poverty in the UK and Poland" one, and it went very well. So pleased.

To whom do you give that lesson? Sounds useful.

Dear and colleagues: In order to help a colleague with a project application that may also help a project I'm involved with, I'm wondering what, if any, arguments there are for -of-speech-tagging as an accessibility feature? Does anyone have an example of how this can help people with non-normative functionalities?
Boosts with other hashtags appreciated.

Thank you; it seems I was unclear. I meant as in helping for example blind people in some way that I simply cannot think of because I do not have that issue myself.

Last week, there was a story from AFP about AI "deceiving" people. Just now I've listened to an excellent podcast co-hosted by Prof. @emilymbender looking at the peer-reviewed academic paper that was the basis for this story. It is very insightful, and an excellent remedy to the AI hype.
EDIT: It's the May 20 episode.

Phew, writing -PF applications is tiring! Nice to have a veranda with growing plants, and an oyster stout to drink. And nice to forget about the rest of the world for a short while.

To those of you using apps for keeping track of and rating or reviewing beers: any experience with BeerHive? The UI looks nicer and more useful than Untappd, but the user base (and beer database) is still tiny...
@beersofmastodon

The left two columns are menus, the rest of the canvas are choices for the malty category, similarly sized grids exist for hoppy, fruity, spicy. No yeasty....

I could gladly look into this hive, but then I'd have to lure everyone of my Untappd friends to join, too … Well, someone has to start 😃
