I very much dislike troons mostly bc

  1. (((certain people))) keep trying to normalize them
  2. they expect us to buy in to their delusions
  3. they bitch if we don’t memorize and use their soynouns
  4. loud and annoying
  5. they infiltrate and co-opt communities

ihatetroons,

any plans if/where you will post when the site goes down? I’ve enjoyed the stuff you share so just curious

ihatetroons,

Apparently engadget hates my vpn today (i keep getting “An error occurred during a connection to guce.engadget.com.”)

alternate article for anybody else having issues:

Much as I hate that this is the world we live in, it's not really surprising when you stop and think about it.

If you raise chickens, you need to guard against foxes, wolves, and other carnivores. Considering that very few children these days don't play video games and that discord (as much as I personally dislike the platform) is one of the biggest places for chatting about games on the web, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it would be like a fucking candy store for pedos.

Glad to see them finally taking steps to against child predators, but I have to wonder if there's anything they could have done differently that might have discouraged these kinds of people sick pieces of shit from hanging out on the platform in the first place...

How Your New Car Tracks You (12ft.io)

The Vehicle Privacy Report creates privacy labels under two broad categories: what a manufacturer collects (including identifiers, biometrics, location, data from synced phones, and user profiles) and whom a manufacturer sells or shares data with (affiliates, service providers, insurance firms, government, and data brokers). For...

ihatetroons,

I'm guessing for anything detailed that it would be different for each manufacturer, and probably even different for various models or years (bc parts contractors for electronics might change, wiring could be different etc)

generically:

  1. Never ever pair your phone's bluetooth with your car unless you are a techie and know how to isolate shit OR you don't have anything to track on the connected device (e.g. like maybe a 2nd old phone that you bought secondhand with cash and a fake name and you only use to play untraceable audiobooks/podcasts off)
  2. Probably would need to look into your car's OnStar or whatever GPS system they bundle in these days, then research how to disable that. If you're lucky maybe you could disable it by finding the corresponding fuse and leaving that one disconnected... but somehow I think it would not be that easy.
  3. Not sure what they mean by "biometric" data about you... If it's fingerprint, you might be able to defeat that with electrical/duct tape or a steering wheel cover but it really depends on if they force you to register to use the car or some shit. Really that kinda goes for other forms of biometric data like voice / retinal too... you're pretty much at the mercy of how much of an asshole they are about it. e.g. Don't buy shit that forces you to use it and then you can at least choose not to.

Even then... I doubt there's a way to kill any tracking data about your driving that gets stored on the car without knowing a good deal about electronics.

But really the best way is like others have said: get an older car (or find one that you can confirm doesn't do this shit and get that)

ihatetroons,

Well, I do kinda hate troons. But aside from the name, does someone who actually takes the effort to make a first post asking what the rules are really strike you as someone who makes trouble? As for the name, partly it's true, partly I figured it was a good test to see how uptight this instance was, and partly so that any troons would be more inclined to block me than to bother me.

If I do hate troons, it's mostly only the annoying individuals who like to force their beliefs onto me and then get all pissy when I have a different opinion that doesn't celebrate them. TBH, if they want to mutilate their own bodies, I don't really care. I don't feel the need to tell them what to do or cause trouble in their communities

As far as the free speech comment before, I'm just annoyed by having to use double speak for the hivemind and pretend like that shit's normal. I know teh screenname was prolly pushing it a bit but I'm actually not all that interested in dropping slurs left and right like a 12yo. Anyway, as far as comments and whatnot I can be civil about it, which if I'm not mistaken, is all the rules are saying, right?... FWIW, if I do run into someone that I absolutely don't think I can play nice with, I'm more inclined to block them than to bother hurling insults at them personally. Just tired of places where merely having an opinion that doesn't celebrate rainbows makes people treat you like some kind of non-human evil anti-christ so you have to act fake.

And if this comes across as me being disrespectful or snarky, that wasn't my intent. Actually, it's fine if you don't like me but skimming through your history, I think that I would get along with you quite well on a few topics. Hell, the fact that you called them "beecuck" already makes me think well of you lol.

ihatetroons,

agreed... I mean who thinks a name that implies that you're so dumb that you would run right off a cliff is a good way to describe yourself? I could see it being used as an insult for lemmy users but anyone who uses the platform and likes that name probably hasn't given it much thought.

But the way it was used above fits perfect lol

ihatetroons,

I never even really considered that reddit mods might be able to see my email (I assumed site admins/devs could see it but not mods of a subreddit). I'm tempted to go swap out my registered email for a temp one now, just for the hell of it...

Had thought about deleting my account entirely (not over the api stuff... just sick of the hivemind over on reddit) but wondering now if all the api stuff might drive off some of that obnoxious crowd and bring back some of the folks from a long time ago... especially since spez seems to be praising elon so much lately lol.
