Adding a Slot Machine to an app to give users chance to win a certain feature to use – would it be considered gambling? Asking for a friend...

P.S.: Selling in-app tokens to play this fake Slot Machine, I imagine, would for sure be considered gambling, eh?

@ramzesenok I've definitely seen games where you can spin a wheel to get something unlocked. But you didn't pay for a spin. It was something like you can check back every x hours.
Mus have been games from Gameloft after they migrated to freemium.

@ramzesenok wait, if I remember correctly you were able to reduce the waiting time (open now) by using gems (which were paid with real money)...
So it was basically gambling. They were using a trove but it's basically the same.
But as we all know Apple treats all developers equal and big developers "more equal"

When you call an async throwing function you have to put try before await. So logically it makes sense that when you define the function throws comes before async, right…

@RobW I don't know but the function is async and then it can throw so async throws makes sense.
When evaluating the inner expression is evaluated first (await) and then the outer expression.

try (await smth())
same as smth(try getParam(i + 1)): first i+1, then try getParam then smth however you're allowed to move the try to the beginning of the line.

A hilarious observation about AI: till this year spam emails inevitably used my correct name since it's literally my email address. In 2024 though spam bots use all available to humanity information to try and guess what my name might be and the results are hilarious.

Free app idea: Null reading list
An app that adds a share extension to send links from Safari etc. Extension opens the app and allows you to pick a title etc. then saves the item in /dev/null.
Whenever you open the app without the share extension it congratulates you on having completed your reading list.
The app has all the functionality of a regular reading list app - the ability to send URLS to it to be forgotten forever - but on opening it provides dopamine rather than anxiety.

    @icanzilb best part is the extensibility. So I can e.g. import my Amazon orders.
    I can also use AppleScript to export all transactions and import them to my budgeting tool in the background.
    You can even create transactions via AppleScript. Like interest rates for loans from friends.
