The network effect for is gaining some serious momentum right now. As more services adopt the protocol, more people, more communities and more content are added to the network making it increasingly more valuable for everyone. This will only accelerate in the coming months as Threads, Wordpress, Tumblr, Flipboard and others federate.

We're still in early innings but there's no way to put this genie back in the bottle. The open social Web / the is going to be huge.

kajkandler,

@mike Question: What is the difference/innovation of Activity Pub over RSS for a blog/CMS like Wordpress?

kajkandler,

@mike Question: If corporations implement Activity Pub, does that mean they are providing “Algorithms" to filter the home feed according to user signals (and their advertisers “legitimate" interests)?

Review: New Atari 2600+ doesn’t justify its plus sign

$130 nostalgia box is useful for seeing your old cartridges in HD, and that's about it.

kajkandler,

@arstechnica This brings back so much memories.
My first computer was an Atari 800 (not the more popular XL).

I spend a lot of money on this thing. But it became the starting point of a career.

Amazon lays off Alexa employees as 2010s voice-assistant boom gives way to AI

Amazon has had a notoriously hard time making money from Alexa.

kajkandler,

@arstechnica Isn't that ironic? Now that AI has developed into usable chat bots which could eliminate the major flaw of all voice bots?
What flaw I mean, is that you can only give it very short commands, because it has no feature to correct the bot, when it did not understand you right.
With ChatGPT I can refine answers and it would be really helpful in a voice conversation as well.
RIP: Alexa play Rhapsody in blue
