The top ~50 Google searches are people typing in websites without the .net or .com because they can't remember the full domain name. (Including "google" which is hilarious.)

Is this a sad reflection on society, or proof that we need a more advanced search engine that actually answers questions rather than simply serving up promoted links and SEO-optimized clickbait.

I'm tentatively excited about this rumored ChatGPT search engine, even if I still have reservations about the future of AI.

The more I think about it, I realize I just want to see Google/Alphabet taken down a few pegs. But the more I think about that, I realize the inevitability of whatever does take down Google eventually becoming another soulless megacorp hell-bent on profits above anything else.

Sigh

The hoops through which I need to jump to sign into my addons mozilla.org account in Thunderbird are UNREAL.

  • Need ThunderWebTabs
  • Need to open the addons page in thunderbird
  • Then need to copy the sign in LINK and not click it
  • Then I need to open that link VIA THUNDERWEBTABS

And only THEN does Thunderbird allow me to be signed into the extensions site.
