As someone who's experienced dating and "cues" from a male perspective and from a female one, I recently had some insights to straight(!) dating:

  • Most women tend to behave incredibly friendly towards a man they're interested in and by letting their guard down; also showing interest in the other person, going out of their way in trying to find time together. Generally just being a really decent person to people they like (duh).

  • Many men (including me, back then) don't get really understand what big sign of trust this is and also that this may be a cue.

  • Most men tend to be rather awkward around a woman they find interesting. Silently observing and not knowing what they should do with themselves. In order to find time together they even sometimes poke fun at the person in question... . Sometimes they get drunk to gather the courage and behave even more shitty. Basically they just behave like idiots.

  • Many women either don't understand that those men are just awkward little children or don't care for those man babies (who can blame them).

I've been on the receiving end of both and tbqh, I do like it better the way most women try to approach me. Anyway, that's just my random experience, maybe someone else has had similar observations or different?

gut, so viel dazu.

Just did some research on light philosophy books to get someone off of the "philosophy" offered by the likes of Richard David Precht ans Jordan Peterson. And I noticed that while I love philosophy, most literature is – of course – mostly considering society as a whole and less focused on self improvement. Even if self improvement is a topic it of course only exists within the context of society.

And indeed most bigger philosophical issues are actually rooted in society (at least in my view). Unfortunately that means that most literature that I'd recommend in that regard, while interesting and inspiring fight against the system ... ultimately isn't that helpful to people struggling to find their place in a system that's fucked up beyond recognition.

So you can either read JP and consider all issues as problems of the individual, or actually fight power struggles but live in existential despair. Which, yes, matches a lot of philosophers.

Maybe we need some self-help books that teach how to be egoistically content with oneself with proper self-care when appropriate without lying about the state of the world as it is. This huge gap needs to be closed, otherwise all activists are just perm burned out (hi, lol!).

Imagined question to a speaker talking about LLMs:

So, in terms of Wittgenstein's concept of every individuals language and the problem of synchronizing meaning between individuals, how would you characterize LLM's grasp of it's human-like text/language without having a grasp of meaning?

So, anyone here with #Nix and/or #Silverblue + a bit of deeper container/#podman and #namespaces knowledge?

I, again, am thinking about combining Silverblue as my base system with a more complex Nix setup to replace toolbox (which is effectively a separate whole Linux to maintain or throw away regularly, or build a CI for to create new images, etc. -- nah).

Now, Nix works fine, but it needs to store things under /nix because most binaries are prefix dependent and not portable in their location. But what if I download the nix store to $HOME/.nix instead and then launch a light-weight throw-away container/namespace that simply maps $HOME/.nix to /nix but keeps everything else identical?

Would that work? Did someone already build that stuff?

Es könnte alles so einfach sein.

Narf, my is broken again (first time I RMA'd).

It just won't turn on the internal signal at all (touch works though). In fact, it doesn't even boot (or POST) if no external monitor is connected. While it at least fully boots with the external monitor, it doesn't detect the internal one.

I've tried:

  • Updating the BIOS, and
  • resetting the DC firmware (as outlined here: https://reddit.com/comments/17zgio3/comment/ka17204)
  • Putting the device into battery storage mode and waking it up again
  • pressing a lot of weird button combos people posted on the interwebs

I don't wanna RMA again. Like, not every half a year.
