Made it to the diamond league in Duolingo. The person currently in first place has more XP in 5 days than I do overall since I've started some months ago.

Not sure if people are cheating or really using the app that much. Either way, doesn't really matter.

Built a request super slow because I thought CTEs (Common Table Expressions) in #MySQL are "cached".

I had one CTE and then queried it 5 times to further refine and structure the result.

Turns out CTEs work more like views and this led to the query in the CTE being executed 5 times.

I finally wanted to check out , but I'm having serious issues with the colors in the UI. Colorblind mode doesn't seem to help at all. Seems to be a known issue with the game. Sucks ... :/

In the nineties, micropayments for each visit to some websites were discussed. Now websites sell subscriptions which I never buy. But I would pay some money to read an article. Seems like money is left on the table. So what happened to micropayments?

@ewolff I loved flattr a decade ago. I set a monthly spending limit and then the money got split amongst all the things I flattr'd that month. Sadly it never took off.

I've upgraded and now all DQL strings have this horrific background color.

Anyone know which setting to tweak? I couldn't find it yet, so I had to disable the bundled DQL plugin for now...

Thanks for your help! Unfortunately I don't have this option (even after enabling the plugin and restarting).

However, I found this bug report https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/WI-75527/DQL-Query-Builder-support-Add-its-own-color-scheme-configuration and as I'm using a custom theme (that I've been dragging along for 10 years), tried their solution of changing the parent theme manually, and this definitely helped.

I still can't configure it, but it looks much more readable now.

@jonno @richard Fand die 1. Staffel etwas besser, aber die 2. lรคsst sich auch gut wegschauen. Fรผr mich wurde Alan Ritchson leider fรผr S2 etwas zu breit... In den Bรผchern ist er trotz seiner Grรถsse flink und relativ agil. Hier nun voller Kรผhlschrank-Modus.

Switched from Google Authenticator to and it's so much better:

  • It's much faster when you have loads of accounts
  • It supports groups, better and easier search and sorting
  • It allows to customize account and issuers names; I have like 5 AWS accounts and it has always been a pain to find the correct one because Google Authenticator truncates the label
  • It's not Google
  • It's open source

again: I'd like to direct the focus to the mental aspect. benchmark: you're at a family event and interacting with a kid that's sitting on the carpet. do you sit down or keep standing?
