Thinking about a dear friend, nearly a decade ago, threw up her hands after linux mint, notorious "beginner distro", did some fucky unintuitive shit for the millionth time and yelled "and look how bad the [some grapical design feature in cinammon, I forget] is! This is why no one uses linux! Because it's made by a bunch of arrogant misogynists who think caring about how things look and feel is women's work and therefore beneath them!" and I think about it every time a piece of open source software is bad and I see all the bros giving it the big un. Until people learn how to actually organise with women (hint: you have to fix the misogyny, silencing and abuse dynamics) we are just doomed to repeat this cycle of men churning out shit foss software with no designers and/or women involved and then acting like it's pure ignorance keeping people from moving away from proprietaries.

As a first step we should beat up richard stallman and the ceo of ubuntu imo.

Housemate had bad fever/"flu-like" sickness last week. Wasn't masking in the house, but put her fuckin bandana over her nose and mouth one day in the kitchen when I saw her, which was the only way I first knew she was even feeling sick. Tested once with a long-expired test - negative. Said it "didn't feel like COVID." (She has had it once before). When I got COVID the second time, I tested negative for THREE DAYS while being INSANELY sick, before I finally popped positive. So she definitely had COVID. And exposed all of us because she thinks talking/thinking about current reality is "depressing." Then two days ago she dropped the bomb that she considers herself "vaccine skeptical" and won't be getting any more boosters/vaccines because she "has a good immune system." NOT ANYMORE YA DON'T YOU FUCKING DIPSHIT. Thanks for putting us all at risk because you're an idiot who has let her intellect get perma-fried on conspiracy YouTube. Also stop fucking calling yourself an anarchist you're barely even a leftist anymore girl.

If I could convince skinny yuppie white blahaj girls with such crushing social anxiety that any criticism is indistinguishable from violence to consider ONE thing about relationships off the back of this thread, it would be what the difference is between two poly people who are dating but just not interested in pursuing anyone else (for example because they have really stringent external constraints on their time, social sphere and disease exposure limitations), a monogamous couple, and a monogamous boyfriend who doesn't want his girlfriend to have any friends

It's actually pretty common among my disabled friends even before the pandemic to be like "ok so I can't deal with the disease vectors of having many people around me all that often, I'm pretty happy with this one person I'm dating, they feel the same, they might shag someone else sometimes but we can retest and barrier for fluid chain management afterward, my sex drive is kinda low so eh I won't be shagging anyone else, maybe one day our conditions might be different and one or both of us would see other people idk but this is fine for the forseeable, perhaps forever", you only need to launder this into an identity if you want to CONTROL who your partner dates and normalise that, and if you see you not dating anyone else as a bargaining chip you can offer your partner to that end

I have those big fat hurricane brand fenders that stop the boat ever crunching the bank/breasted boats and softens lateral rocking, but sometimes they catch on the pilings and every time the boat rocks (like tonight in the wind) you get such a loud creaking sound as they rub against the hull and strain their lines
