The new system has an operating pressure of 800kpa, but when testing the pressure kept topping out at 300kpa. The contractor spent a week “fault/leak finding” before one of our guys noticed they’d failed to isolate a pressure relief/safety valve on the old system which activated at … 300kpa. Says I, “so your commissioning engineer completely failed to spot a simple issue, right?”. Contractor agrees. Says I, “so you spent a week on a redundant exercise, right?”. Contractor agrees. Says I, “so you have no basis to make a claim for costs, right?”. Contractor, “naa but like, you know, regardless of all that we did, like, do the work but”.
