Hello NFL Fans! If you find yourself browsing @NFL, please feel free to add some content or comment on some existing threads. I'm trying to add content when I can, but the more the merrier!

I probably know more about ActivityPub than most people here, and still was a little confused. I've looked into it more and essentially a magazine is a Group and a post is a, well, Post. A comment is a Note.

Which means I think you could follow a Group/magazine in Mastodon and be made aware of new Posts, but maybe not comments? I'll have to check.

Either way I'm glad a Bills fan is running the show over here.

What I would like to know is if lemmy instances can see Magazines on kbin... I know kbin can see lemmy communities but I haven't been able to search/find kbin magazines from lemmy. I could be doing it all wrong though.

Go Bills! (although I do have to remain a bit more unbias over here lol)

Another question... What's the difference between the "boost" button and an upvote?

My understanding through the discussion about swapping boost and favorite for "likes" in KBin is this:

Upvote is often actually an implementation of "favoriting" across the fediverse. It has a small impact on the visibility and broadcasting of content across the fediverse.

Boosting content has the intent of significantly impacting the visibility and broadcasting of content across the fediverse.

Think of liking vs retweeting.

Can users from Lemmy instances see/interact with Magazines from kbin? If so, what is the proper way to search for one on another instance so it is "discovered"? I can foresee a problem with the same or very similar community being created across several Lemmy instances, all competing for engagement. What's the best way to solve this?

Kbin intends to be a middle ground between federated Reddit and Tumblr. It provides an interface DESIGNED around both link aggregation (Reddit/Lemmy) and microblogging (Twitter/Mastodon).

The point of it's existence is that someone saw an opportunity to make something they thought would be cool or useful, and so they did. Evidently, by the influx of users and content for the platform and the amount of people that interact with Lemmy and Mastodon through KBin, lots of other people do too.

You don't need to disparage it's existence just because you don't want to use it. 🙂

I didn't realize it had another usecase, that's interesting!
