What if they're doing this, letting us all get riled up, and then after the black out they go "ok ok, we get it. We'll reduce the cost down to insert still high but irritatingly doable number" and that was the plan all along. That they started outrageously high so they can land where they actually expected to be. A bunch of users go back grumbling but feeling like they still won, yet we got 4d cheesed.
It is bitter sweet, but I am excited to a new start in a much smaller (dare I say tighter?) community.
The short time I've spent here so far has been relaxing in a way. I don't feel rushed to get to the next post. The clunkiness on mobile reminds me of forums back in the early 2000s. I'm sure the nostalgia will wear off, but at this very hectic point in my life, it's nice to slow down for a change.
I agree with you 100%. I'm interacting and contributing more on here in the last three days than over a decade on Reddit. I like that I can have a conversation with people here instead of a hive mind. I feel like I'm sitting in a comfortable chair drinking a coffee on here, actually enjoying content as it trickles in. Unlike what I was doing on Reddit which was more like slamming a monster while driving.
And the avatars! I forgot what it was like to recognize someone by their avatar.
This slower early internet feel has really been comforting in an honestly hectic point in my life. Regardless of what happens after the 14th or 30th or whatever, I'm staying here.
I love every part of this @Shepherd and I love that you asked this @minnieo. I needed this from you both... To know I'm not alone here.
I've been leaning into that chaos more and realizing that hey, so what if I'm painting my basement ceiling at 2am? I'm getting something done, no one's getting hurt, and I'm off tomorrow.
I'm feeling less stress because I'm not trying to force myself into the structure of how I'm "supposed" to be doing things
I really enjoyed The Planet Crafter! It's a crafting game bringing a barren world to fully lush environment. Lakes will form, grasses start to grow. It's very peaceful and visually appealing.
