animefeminist, The Villain Edit: Dissecting how Oshi no Ko evokes real-life tragedy in its depictions of harassment and reality TV culture
#oshinoko evokes a real woman's death with good intentions, but it's still worth asking if the story's execution did more harm than good

Pieyon deserves a life-size standee. :leafeonmoney:
gallifreygal, @anianimalsmoe OMG yessssss
there's a shocking lack of Pieyon merch in general which is very disappointing!
gallifreygal, Still can't believe this actually exists. iykyk #OshiNoKo
gallifreygal, @CavoriteLizard YES. I watched the whole thing and I don't think there were any edits.
CavoriteLizard, @gallifreygal :meowsurprised: This is incredible! I love how they just grab their waters and keep going nonstop through a set haha.
DoubleSama, "Oshi no Ko" is a better series than Kaguya-sama (both are by Aka Akasaka). I just prefer drama anime over comedy most of the time.
anianimalsmoe, @DoubleSama
According to interviews, Kaguya-sama was not Aka's original choice to write. The drastic change in genre was his editor's suggestion. :ablobfoxhyperthinking:Aka claimed that writing comedy for Kaguya-sama did improve the way he subsequently wrote comedy, which probably refers to the comedy sections of Oshi no Ko to balance out the heavy drama. :blobfox3c:
sachirin,
rewarp, This seems to have been missed by the folks who don't watch anime. Appropriate highlight for pride month, Queen Bee, fronted by Avu, a black, queer, Japanese singer; is responsible for the outstanding ending theme to Oshi no Ko's first season.
Their stage presence is quite simply, mesmerising. The audience becoming silent simply via song and gesture, amazing. Using the microphone wire as a whip, inspired.
cydonian, @rewarp Avu-chan is awesome! Loved their Japanese version of Stayin’ Alive which was featured in Bullet Train OST. 🤘🏽
gallifreygal,
soda, trying to get back into watching anime by starting #OshiNoKo (months too late?)
a lot of the idol industry tidbits were nothing new to me because of my past interests, but the part about haiyuus did surprise me a bit as i have never gotten into doramas 😆
i had no idea the premiere was ~90 minutes long, goddamn. what living under a rock does to someone.
irfan, Man, I still can't stop thinking about #OshiNoKo. I expected a very simple #anime, and in a lot of ways it still was very simple, but just from the first episode alone I was completely thrown off with multiple twists I hadn't expected AT ALL from an anime revolving around Idols. I decided to give it a watch purely bcos of the unique, starry design of their "eyes", the vibrant colours, and the popular OP song - now I'm actually looking forward to Season 2 which is coming in the coming months.
