@geerlingguy have you looked into Meshtastic at all? I feel like you and your dad could put out some awesome videos about maximising range for LoRa nodes that the Meshtastic crowd would love (and it would bring a lot of attention to the hobby too!)

As someone who was quite into LoRaWAN, why would I use it?

Edt: Genuinely curious, I have half the kit so have considered it but it just looks like basic messages?

@Ryanteck @geerlingguy pretty much... just simple messaging but I think half the fun is building up the network and making contact with random strangers (theres also the whole doomsday prepper angle). For me I'm mostly having fun designing cases and setting up little solar nodes :)

@andy_warb @Ryanteck If you have a network that can exchange messages, you have a network that can do other fun stuff, learning mesh networking is fun, even as a basic exercise.

There are a few folks around STL who run it, so I think we'll try it out at some point.
