Right now we're in early production on a science fiction game about artificial intelligence.

And we will not use generative AI for any part of it. Not art, not music, not voices. Even if it'd be thematically appropriate we are not appropriating anyone else's work.

@objectinspace I appreciate the offer, and I don't have problems with ethically trained AI models where the creators of the original work are compensated and consenting. But I think to be on the safe side, I should just avoid those tools where possible for this project.

@objectinspace That's why I advocate for the one-two punch of ethically trained models, and local generation. Don't pay someone else, just use legitimately developed open source tools on your own computer.

But right now it's such a freakin' minefield that I'd rather eschew entirely. I am looking to hire voice actors to just, like, ACT for a few roles instead.

@objectinspace @y_sotomayor we're trying to make all of our games as accessible as possible. Some of the menus that are built into our game's engine are a little difficult to navigate, but the actual game itself should be pretty straightforward. And we're using the same tools and technologies in all three of our games. Just tap the V key to activate self voicing with extra narration.

@objectinspace thanks for pointing that out, I'll get it fixed. All three of our games should have robust text to speech options, just tap the V key to get started. It will replace various user interfaces with more linear ones that will be easier to navigate by voice.

@objectinspace you should be able to use a keyboard or controller for everything. Navigating the save game system may be a little difficult but there's not a lot I can do about that. After activating self voicing, each game should start with a brief tutorial which explains how to make choices and what the different audio cues mean.
