I have been programming since I was 12 (born in '73 #genx), currently enjoy coding in #Rust. I use Linux every day; I prefer open to closed. I try to live and let live when it comes to people's tech choices.

I work in tech but am learning how better to separate that from my passion for programming.

I used to podcast, I plan to again soon.

I practice #zazen, #qigong, and #taichi every day.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

was another slow morning with a gradual shift into chores, for the day and the week ahead.

I did my daily circuit of the yard and gave the vegetable plants their weekly food. I prepared ingredients for my lunches. I started laundry early because this week includes towels and linens.

I think the rest of the day will be mostly reading and a bit more recovery before the week ahead.

I sliced the mycelium cutlets I cooked yesterday and rested in the refrigerator overnight. I worked slowly and carefully yielding my best results so far. I avoided tearing or shredding any pieces.

I made up my usual spice mix and added hot water to help open and meld the flavors. I put everything back in the fridge until lunch. Last time, working with the hot spice slurry caused the strips to start to fall apart. I think working cold right up until the air fryer is key.

Now we are watching episode two of The Acolyte while waiting for our delivery dinner treat.

We are finally watching The Beekeeper. Peak Statham?

@cmdln@thecommandline.social avatar

This movie, it is not good.

We've discovered how much Statham is too much Statham. He is now out-Stathaming bullets. He's a bee themed Batman.

And just like that he was gone in a cloud of bees.

Whuff.

I cleaned the yard and took care of some spot gardening after breakfast. I picked up my new eyeglasses. I cooked some brown rice and mycelium cutlets for lunches.

Now that I've taken care of the day's needfuls, I can spend the remains relaxing and recovering, starting with some reading in the sun and the green.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

I still feel run down after the three day $dayjob planning event earlier this week. The time was well spent but demanding. Staying up for even part of didn't help but hopefully a day of slack will do the trick.

I have a single errand I would like to complete before noon, picking up my new glasses (huzzah). The rest of the day I hope to take advantage of the abundant sunshine to continue recovering and recharging.

Huh, Donnie Darko. I actually have never seen it.

I don't know how long I'll be able to stay up to enjoy after this week but I'll try. I may not post as much either, rather watching the movie, Joe Bob, and the posts from the rest of the

Despite being thoroughly worn out , I managed to accomplish most of what I wanted from my $dayjob agenda.

I spent some time out in the yard. I didn't get to spend much time in the green over the last three days, arriving home most nights after bedtime.

I worked on recovering a few other ways. I think I barely had enough in the tank for my run but the movement and more green helped. I had two extended sits that definitely started to regenerate my exhausted equanimity.

I have new glasses and can read my paper RPG books again. Huzzah!

@grueproof Huzzah! Reminds me I need to pick up my own new glasses this afternoon. More huzzahs ahead!

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

I feel like I used to after a business trip even though my in person meeting was local.

My reserves are depleted. I already did some work on recovery, with an extended sit and a run along the creek in the sunshine.

Honestly, simply returning to my usual routines is highly restorative.

My $dayjob tasks for today are mostly writing though I have an idea for a small code experiment as a break, mostly to test some ideas in the small.

This strategic planning summit for $dayjob was well run. We accomplished what we set out to do, compile a rough plan for digital that we can share with the rest of the org.

That means we were able to finish on time, i.e. early, today. I even have time to catch up with a friend over beer and still be home in time for dinner.

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling a bit punchy after two intense days of work. I am just as glad my colleagues are responding with humor.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

is my last day working in office for this strategic planning session. I am hoping for a shorter day given the solid progress the last two days. Also many colleagues are traveling home today.

These three days have been super helpful for me as a new employee and also very enjoyable. Our offices are gorgeous and I enjoyed working with a wider group of people than I usually do.

My $dayjob's offices are right next to Nationals Park. There were games last night and tonight. The platform was packed but I squeaked into a less crowded car for the few stops up the Green line to pick up the Red line the rest of the way home. Many of the Nats fans also disembarked at Gallery Place but I beat them up the escalator and caught a Red line train already at the platform. Doors closed before the wave reached it. I am relieved; I really don't do well with crowds.

I hope my luck holds and I beat the weather home. A tornado watch just went into effect for the area.

I feel zorched. was day two of three for an in person strategic planning gathering at $dayjob.

We had a full agenda and got through it all. I have learned a lot, complementing my own investigations and reading of our codebase. I have a clearer understanding of how my own project fits into the bigger picture.

The third day, tomorrow, will thankfully be short. I want to take Friday off to nap for eight hours but am also energized to resume planning for my own project.

Part of my exhaustion is definitely blood sugar. Lunch was solid today, bowls from Foods. The vegan option was really good, tons of whole grains and fresh veggies.

Dinner was a treat, pizza from Anthony's. Sadly the delivery driver was rear ended. The vegan pies were the worst casualty. I had to wait an hour longer to eat. They refunded 50% of the order, which is damn decent of them so I wasn't salty at all. I definitely bottomed out while waiting though, getting through on sheer willpower.

@cmdln@thecommandline.social avatar

Another plus today was I had time to use the wellness room for a round a qi gong and a brief sit. I wish I had had more time for a longer sit but was grateful for what time I did get.

Good morning and TZAG, friends.

I was up early again in order to travel into DC for the second day of three working in person on strategic $dayjob planning for the next 12 months of work.

I am hoping to be able to head home a little earlier than last night. I enjoyed the first day but not so much only seeing @kamikat briefly before leaving then just as briefly after returning before turning in.

There is nothing better after a long work day than a plate of home cooked food and joining an in progress rewatch of Disenchantment. Lunch and dinner were light buffets with a single option I could eat, though both were excellent.

Time was at a premium. The work agenda for the event was the priority at lunch, actual team building and genuine socializing was the priority at dinner.

Too bad I have to be up early to do it all again tomorrow. It is already past my usual bedtime.
