#NowWatching Liquid Sky (1982)

Absolutely no idea what this is besides being the next on the Criterion Channel's Synth Soundtracks list.

There's a wiki that describes game mechanics from SWG and this is great because it's been so long and I worried I was misremembering things.

Wrapping up chores. It's almost evening movie hacking time.

Running out of time. I wonder if I'll manage to bring my "projectiles" feature to a merging state in my game dev project.

Going to grab a shower after getting all sweaty cleaning floors and the tub. After: synth movies, and hacking. I may partake in some whiskey and try to ballmer peak my way to gunplay in my game.

It's a classic Cinderella story.

I think I still smell bad and I guess I need a 2nd shower.

Recipes that try to specify how long it will take to cook a large piece of meat are amusing. The recipe that I’m not actually following, said 4-5 minutes per side to get to 135° F. 25 minutes later? We’re at 74° F.

@joshourisman yeah, it's a load of bull honkey

Wait so like… there's going to be a Windows 11 update that just removes WordPad? Like you have a program on your computer and Microsoft just straight up deletes it? https://www.spiceworks.com/tech/tech-general/news/goodbye-cortana-wordpad-tips-apps/

@mcc removing fanfic.docx because it contradicts canon. Dag yo. too harsh.

The distant memory of a time where I played video games instead of raggedly trying to make them.

The next two synth soundtrack movies are new to me. Liquid Sky and Sorcerer.

I wonder if they are any good?

Ever since I watched A Clockwork Orange the other day, I've had Singing in the Rain stuck in my head.

listening to ambient record

hm, this is kind of boring

puts on second ambient record at the same time

ahh, much better

onelson,
@onelson@mastodon.social avatar

@mcc I wonder how hard it would have been to convince Winamp to launch twice, back in the day. Probably I'd have resorted to firing up Windows Media Player for the 2nd album.

Messiah of Evil (1973)

This one isn't terrible but not really a favorite. I suppose the soundtrack is quite synthy after all.

Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)

Not a fan of this one, but that's okay because Sunday is Chore Day for me, I'll roll this while I do laundry and such. The soundtrack is still pretty good.

The main theme for this one is something I think I've heard riffed on in countless crack screens from old Atari ST disks.

I'm sure I could find an Atari ST midi rendition of this out there with some weird pixel art to go with it and a ribbon of greetz scrolling below.

Missing (1982)

This one is new to me.
Might have to stop hobby-hacking quite so hard and give this one more attention than the previous in the "Synth Soundtracks" collection.

Panzer DragOOM has some ridiculous minimum system requirements. Unplayable on my system.

Tenebre (1982)

This one has some nice camerawork, great color, and of course, the Synth Soundtrack absolutely fucks.

@onelson@mastodon.social avatar

I'm on my 2nd movie today and I still haven't gotten into my hacking. Not properly anyway. I did cleanup what I worked on this past week but need to launch on the Next Thing, whatever that is.

I guess I'm just going to have to pick something and run with it.

#NowWatching Clockwork Orange (1971)

I'm kicking off my run-through of Criterion Channel's Synth Soundtrack collection.

This movie is... not a favorite of mine, but it sure is iconic.

My apartment complex has just installed EV charging stations around the place with some sort of QR Code app scan thing for metering.

Interesting. I figured I'd have to wait until I bought a house before I'd be able to get an EV. Maybe not?

Is Clockwork Orange a horror? Do I get to log that one?
