I'm probably best known as the person who started the #Safari and #WebKit projects at #Apple. You may think you know my deadname but... you don't.

I've drawn underground comics, pioneered using a Mac for newspaper graphics and developed software at Adobe and Netscape.

Now I write video #transcoding scripts and sometimes podcast.

Tomorrow is the next big coming-out of my life - to my supervisor, the first person I’ll tell at work. She’s great, I expect this to go well. But it’s eating up ENORMOUS amounts of my brainwidth today.

Going to the restroom for a trans woman can be so anxiety inducing. I know for me it can be anyway. All I wanna do is get in and get out without any issues, hassles or problems.

But I had something happen while I was at lunch with my mother in-law that was rather affirming as a woman. It’s the opposite of what I’ve imagined could happen to me going to the women’s restroom.

I was washing my hands when a woman about my age came out of the other stall. She looked at me, straight in the face and asked if I could zip up the back of her dress. She didn’t even wait for a response. She just turned around and pulled up her hair. Then said, “It’s so hard to do this by yourself. So much easier when you have help. Thanks.”

She didn’t see me as a predator. Didn’t see me as someone who shouldn’t be in there. She saw me as another woman who simply would understand the need to have help zipping up the back of her dress.

I almost started crying.

I, a trans girl, went into the women’s restroom and nothing happened, except for another woman asked for my help.

@WrenArcher TBH, I am a bit jealous. I've been going to the Ladies Room since I began transition. While it's delightful that I've always been basically ignored and treated just like any other woman, nobody has asked me for help like that. So cool, girl. 😊

@miriamrobern I feel this in my bones. My son christened me "Other Mother" when I came out to him and my family. I don't think he realized the "Coraline" reference, which is kinda cringy. And while I appreciate "Mother" being in there somewhere, a "Mom" all by itself every once in awhile would be nice.

so. in January I was in a bad car accident. fractured spine, ruptured discs, cracked pelvis, broken arm. last 4 months have been v hard. tonight though I'm going back to my adult dance class for the first time. I wasn't sure I'd ever even walk properly again so this is a moment for me. a good one

Visibly struggling to get up the stairs to the plane (eff hard stands). Amazing how helpful people can be when you say (truthfully) by way of explanation, “I was hit by a car yesterday.”

Comically slowly, with only sore knees and skinned palms to show for said encounter, but I’m definitely not at the “I walked 5km today” levels of activity from several days ago.
