According to newspaper De Limburger the Arriva Drielandentrein Dreiländerzug Train des trois pays to Luik-Guillemins Liège-Guillemins Lüttich-Guillemins will now start on 30 June 2024. Because of the recent flooding of the railway line between Eijsden and Visé the last test runs haven't been done.

I assume the kilometre points on Czech lines are where relevant still counted from the original start of the line, in what is now neighbouring Austria, Germany, or Poland? Good that “political correctness” even in Communist times didn’t change that.

@tml Mostly Vienna. Trouble is, because Austrian railway policy was, er, curious, this is all a big mess that often has no relation to current (or even early 20th century) traffic.

Poland, conversely, resurveyed everything and while this does ignore history, the network structure makes a whole lot more sense now.

Both in Czechia and Austria, the official infrastructure line numbering often doesn’t follow chainage because it just doesn’t make any sense operationally.

@25kV @tml @diningcar The ČD website and app show the planned train compositions. The site https://vagonweb.cz does, too, but you have to look for train numbers there. But they do have more details about the planned carriage.

TFW you look at the trainset number to verify that you’re getting onto the right train since the passenger information system is broken* and it may very well be a delayed train to a different destination.

  • It still plays the annoying advertising loop, though.

mit dem Ersatzzughinweis. Laut DB bis Zürich, laut SBB nur bis Basel Bad Bf.

@wrzlbrnft @bahntiger Der 2879 hat den 79 ersetzt. Aus irgendwelchen Gründen hat die DB den 79 aber nicht aus den Echtzeitdaten genommen und er fährt jetzt als Geisterzug. Leidis-Echtzeitdaten hat er (laut bahn.expert) zuletzt bei der Abfahrt in Göttingen gehabt.

I wasn’t planning this, but because the neighbours are having a birthday party, the islands are insanely expensive, and I panicked and couldn’t think of anything better than Train World in Brussels, I might* now get to see Antwerp’s port from a train window.

  • Might, because trouble is starting already on the high-speed line to Rotterdam which has been closed all day due to a signalling fault.

@becha There are currently no long-distance trains to the north and west out of Munich and regional services are limited. You could try reroute via Passau or go via Wien and Czechia (but note the mandatory seat reservations on cross-border trains into Germany).

@becha There may be trains again tomorrow but it probably will still be an adventure.

One option would be to go to Zurich this afternoon (there’s a connection 15:16) and then go to Berlin from there tomorrow. But hotels in Zurich are likely ridiculously expensive.

Go to Vienna now and then via Prague to Berlin tomorrow but then you need to see if you can still get a reservation for the Prague—Berlin train.

Nebitzschen – Kemmlitz: Schaut so aus als fährt da ein tägliches Zugpaar am verlängerten Wochenende in den Ferien. Das würde ich unter touristisch einstufen, wie es jetzt (etwas schwierig zu sehen) auch dargestellt ist?

@Schleifleistenbruch Stück mit fehlendem Personenverkehr bei Rottenbach: Das ist der Stationspunkt für den ehemaligen Bahnhof Köditzberg. Da muss ich die Darstellung von ex-Bahnhöfen im Pax-Layer nochmal überarbeiten.
