The minimum wage in Philippines is ~$6 per day in the provincial regions (350Php). $5 per hour for 8 hours is damn well nearly a king’s ransom; equivalent to 2,200Php.

And for fuck’s sake don’t raw dog your phone to convenient USB chargers in airplanes, airports, or other public spaces.

Yes the argument can be made that airplanes may enjoy slightly better chain-of-custody type security, but fr the number of people I see who dgaf plugging their junk into USB brothels is wild.

Remember when the petroleum industry sold us disposable plastic bags as a way to “save the trees”?

It’s how I retain that resting heart rate of 112. I don’t even have to go to the gym anymore; I’m getting my cardio in just sitting here.

What mechanism is the source for Earth's Nitrogen?

I recall an explanation of the formation of Jovian moons on the Harvard Smithsonian “CfA Colloquium” YT channel that casually mentioned how various elements freeze out of the solar wind forming ices, and this is the mechanism that allows formation of moons with large amounts of water and elements that are not found in larger...

1A might be too much. You’ll also need to ensure the polarity is correct. There should be a label, usually co-located with the serial number, which states the input and polarity requirements of the DC plug.

It really depends on the internal tolerances. If you are familiar with basic circuitry and the use of a multimeter, you can check for initial power continuity.

Otherwise, using the correct amperage and polarity power supply will be the easiest check.

What kind of a gift can you give your teacher out of respect, but that doesn’t get mistaken for romance?

A follow up from my older asklemmy post, saying goodbye to a teacher who helped me a lot through my stuff, was thinking maybe chocolate, but one of the dudes said that it’s not a very good idea, I was thinking maybe a perfume/cologne? What do you guys suggest? She is in probably in her early 20s if it helps, and I am in senior...

It’s a common trope, in the US at least. The gift can be different in different countries. In the Philippines other local-made snacks might be brought for teachers.

Where can I find the most authentic home-style ceviche (hole in the wall type place)?

I’ve been to suviche before for ceviche but i’d like to try somewhere that’s authentic like a hole in the wall place where peruvians would go for ceviche. I can speak intermediate spanish so it’s all good if they don’t speak english. Thanks!...

About a decade ago CVI.CHE 105 had some damn good ceviche. It’s a good start.

Every paper comes with an author appendix as cut-out scrabble tiles (scrambled) so readers assemble the names in the order they prefer.

So what /were/ we supposed to use to mash the reset button on various pieces of hardware (eg, home routers) once the Paperless Office became a thing? 🤔

(Please, no jokes about AIs turning us into paperclips, tho also, same question there I suppose…what use would an AI have with paperclips if nobody's using paper anymore?)

(Yes, I have paperclips handy, and am resetting most of my WAPs via SSH anyhow 🤣)

As of v23, there is a programmable button (“Reset”) available on Layer 2 in the default layout which functions identically to the pinhole button.

Been Learning on my ZSA Moonlander, but I'm Stuck at 60WPM (lemmy.world)

I recently got a ZSA Moonlander and started learning colemak dh. It’s been a really fun journey so far and I’m now able to type consistently at 60 WPM. However, as you can see from the chart I’ve sort of hit a plateau at 60 and I’m having trouble breaking it....

What span of time is this? 60WPM is great tbh. I’d say focus on just using this skill for the next year and don’t tie yourself up too much worrying about your WPM. Gains after this point may come a little more slowly, and through practical applications rather than repeated type training.

That’s the only metric which matters! Press on for a bit and don’t sweat it.

Hey mate, any progress breaking through 60WPM?
