Hello Jays fans! Finishing touches are coming together for my bot rewrite, and the new bots should be taking over tomorrow if all goes to plan. With that finally out of the way I can start to focus on adding to the community. By far the biggest request is for in-game linescore updates and highlights to be added to the game day...
First of all, wanted to thank you so much for all you’ve done so far to build and support this community! I’m looking forward to watching the community continue to grow, and all your posting is appreciated in bringing more activity here.
A comment I had is that for the past month, I as a Kbin user haven’t been able to see the game threads posted by the bot :(. I’m not sure if there was a recent change to the bot that’s causing the automated threads to not federate, or if this is a Kbin specific issue. I checked and the last game thread available on Kbin was on July 26. Meanwhile I’ve been able to view all the user-created threads since then. I’m curious if people from Lemmy servers other than Lemmy.ca are having the same issue?
I haven’t looked into this any further but I’ll try to investigate sometime and see if bot posts on Lemmy communities in general do not federate with Kbin at this time, or if this is an issue with this community specifically.
I agree with you that it’s frustrating and I’m hoping this is something we can eventually fix. It makes sense to keep them tagged as bot posts on Lemmy - better to look for more of a long term solution.
Really hoping that this trade is just to get more infield depth and have a safety net but we’ll have to wait and see when they release more info on Bo.
I won't be in town this weekend but I was curious to see what resale tickets were going for since Ohtani and the Angels are visiting. I was surprised to see that the cheapest pair of tickets for Friday's game on Stubhub and Seatgeek were $200!...
How do you like it compared to Goodreads? I mainly use Goodreads as a tool to log info about the books I read, which I’m sure I could easily do on any other service.
I wasn’t able to find an app so I’m guessing you made a PWA for it as well?

I never got around to FFXV but I played FFVII Remake and I found that to be a fun balance for me between the action and RPG element. If this game is similar to that then I think I’ll have a good time.
What a great year for gaming 2023 is shaping up to be.

Another update and possibly a solution for some case where posts were not properly deleted. Seems I jumped the gun on this and the restores haven't been intentional - at least not in this particular case....
I recently played an amazing DOS game where you have your country and you can declare war or peace with other ones, and i really enjoyed it. Growing up one of my favorite DOS games was Gobliiins 3, such cool memories!
I played Tyrian 2000 a ton as a kid and this was such a fantastic game. It even had a great two player mode which I recall had separate weapons for each ship!
I wish I was old enough at the time to appreciate the data logs you collected because I remember there was fun dialog hidden in some of them.
One of my favourite DOS games was One Must Fall 2097. It’s a fighting game with giant robots piloted by humans (similar to Pacific Rim). I really appreciated the diversity in design and move set for the different robots, and it had a killer main theme.
While I’ve come to terms with accepting that a mass migration from Reddit to Kbin, Lemmy, etc. may not happen any time soon, I do appreciate learning about these new communities and am looking forward to helping them grow :)
Thanks for sharing this. I’m going to email my MP about this later today.
As someone who’s still upset by how the Liberals ended this discussion after 2015 and went back on their promise, I expect either the Conservative or Liberal Party to find a way to squash this initiative again.
That being said, I do still think there’s value in pushing for this change especially at this moment. The EKOS poll referenced on that site mentioned that 76% of Canadians support a citizens’ assembly. Given that, I think either party would have to be very careful in how they try to obstruct this change. Especially in the minority government environment we’re in.
I introduced kbin to someone today who asked what the fediverse was. I answered for them of course, but it made me realize that the concept is still technobabble for most people. The average joe probably doesn't care or notice that server A is really talking to server B. Just have them find out on their own and if a mass...
Exactly my thoughts. Offer to provide people more information gradually (if they desire). I think the important part is getting people to first try out these options, because it’s much easier to learn about this at your own pace and by playing around with it, rather than listening to a minutes long explanation, even when it’s well intentioned.

Hey everyone, I’m a new user as well from Reddit and I’m really excited to be on Kbin. I was wondering if anyone had a link to a wiki or video that explains how to navigate the UI for the site?
The FAQs section didn’t cover some of the questions I had, like what are boosts and how do I favourite/save posts or comments?
I appreciate the advice - I'll try playing around with my own magazine.
After a day of use I do feel a lot more comfortable! I've tried out Kbin, Lemmy and Squabbles and I have to say I do like the interface on Kbin the most. Just hoping that the traffic/Cloudflare issues are resolved sooner than later :)

Hey everyone! I’m a Reddit refugee as well. I joined Reddit just after Digg collapsed and I left because I’m upset with how they’re treating the third party app devs (I used Apollo) and I really disliked the direction they were moving towards pushing advertising on its users.
I’m only now learning about the Fediverse and it’s been a neat experience! I’m excited to see how this site evolves and am really hoping that kbin, Lemmy, etc. continue to grow past the blackout!
My interests include reading, swimming, playing the piano, and watching baseball :)
