MS is obviously doing their absolute best to blame-shift here

There is not a single word in that article that says anything about blame shifting. That title was written by wired.com

When you go on the internet you are accessing content on other people’s computers. You are saying, “I want such and such document”. There’s an inherent lack of privacy in browsing the internet. You can try to be private about it, but ultimately you’re not changing that you’re requesting data from other people’s computers and sending them data.

When you are doing something else on your PC besides browsing the web, Recall is still taking screenshots and tracking you. What apps you use, pictures you view, and many other things that might be completely offline and you don’t necessarily want a history of stored on your PC, with screenshots and searchable summaries. Do you want each and every one of your fap sessions recorded? Why would you want any of your offline activity recorded?

What if you forget to pause this feature and someone finds these screenshots? Who cares, right? What if your a closeted gay teen living in a conservative country and your family finds the history?

Then there are people who don’t understand computers using offline business software for accounting, or whatever, and even if they store their data files on an encrypted drive or something, Recall is taking screenshots of everything they do. If they don’t even know its happening, their PC could have years of data that could be stollen from them at any point in the future. Even if they never open those encrypted files again. Obviously, if their computer is pwned, then the hackers could just take the enencrypted files when they’re next accessed, but Recall snapshots everything all the time, even if you delete it.

Edit a self nude photo on your PC and forget to turn off Recall, and then layer decide to delete the photo… Too bad, Recall still has it.

It’s a feature that’s… ok if you want it, but it should not be part of the operating system, and it definitely shouldn’t be opt-out. It should be an app that you install with deliberate purpose if and only if you want itand understand the security and privacy risks.

Microsoft instead wants to install it by default and probably turn it on by default. Even if it ends up being opt-in, MS has a long history of asking people to enable features in misleading ways. And the vast majority of Windows users don’t understand computers!

It’s a singular mass noun like sand. Do you say “popcorns”?

CrayonRosary,

I would like one sack of sands, please.

CrayonRosary, (edited )

You can’t say “one popcorn” or “two popcorn” because mass nouns aren’t countable. It’s just “popcorn” for any amount of popcorn. Notice I said “amount” and not “number” because, again, popcorn is a mass noun and cannot be enumerated. If you want to enumerate kernals of popcorn, you have to say “kernels of popcorn”.

How fucking tall are these people?

Also, I’m surprised a shop named “MEAT” sells meat.

CrayonRosary,

He’s trivially easy. You just have to accept people’s advice or learn the tricks on your own instead of saying we’re wrong or don’t understand you. Is a miniboss not supposed to require advanced tricks? This whole game is about learning how to fight every enemy.

I find the crab to be 3x as annoying because you have to run around in circles forever just to trade blows. Especially when you roll low on your sneak attacks several times in a row. It just drags it out. The gnoll can be killed much quicker and consistently. He doesn’t even melee you!

And the ghost rewards are awesome! I have no idea how you could say with a straight face that his rewards have a slim possibility of being good.

Anti-Challenges?

I see a lot of posts on this wiki about seeds that give overpowered items. These greatly reduce the difficulty of the game, but due to the popularity of these posts this seems to appeal to a great deal of the player base. Therefore, I propose the addition of what are effectivly Anti-Challenges, that reduce the difficulty of the...

CrayonRosary,

Perhaps this could only be unlocked after finishing a run with default settings

Nah, I think the game just needs easy mode for the casuals. Whether that’s broken into separate challenges or just a single mode. I know people who have tried the game and lost interest because they’re not into even the default 0-challenge difficulty.

But it could also be a separate fork of the game entirely. Heck there probably already is one. YAPD appears to have easy mode.

better grinder for pour over?

I know high end grinders are probably worth it for espresso, but for pour-over coffee does it make that much difference? I use a Capresso Infinity at either fine coarse or medium coarse and that’s about it. Visibly the grind size does look a bit variable to me. Since I’m already in conical bur territory here, are higher end...

CrayonRosary,

Never heard of inflation, huh. Our education system is failing.

CrayonRosary,

The meme is not saying anything of any substance. It’s not showing anything about the cost of living, income, or anything actually interesting. It’s just “hur due, inflation. Bygone era, hur dur.”

CrayonRosary,

Remember when lunch was a dime and we made 5¢ an hour? Hur dur.

CrayonRosary,

It’s a really dumb meme.

CrayonRosary,

Your mom is a meme.

CrayonRosary,

70 Oled

A TV needs to have more than 70 LEDs to look acceptable to me.

almos sound system

And it had to actually have sound, not almost have sound.

CrayonRosary,

A modicum? It sounds like you have absolutely no idea what addiction is like.

CrayonRosary,

I vape my flower and charge the vaporizer with solar power.

CrayonRosary,

That’s how Jesus died, which is what his pose is referencing.

Google Search’s “udm=14” trick lets you kill AI search for good | Ars Technica (arstechnica.com)

Tack “&udm=14” on to the end of a normal search, and you’ll be booted into the clean 10 blue links interface. While Google might not let you set this as a default, if you have a way to automatically edit the Google search URL, you can create your own defaults.

CrayonRosary,

Firefox let’s you add arbitrary search URLs to its list of search engines.

I was speaking figuratively, not within the rules of the game.

And yes, that’s all excellent advice. That’s how I deal with a lot of ranged enemies, but most of our battles start with me opening a door, getting face-blasted, then closing the door and holding down the wait button. Then as soon as they open the door, they’re in melee range where they are easy prey; especially with the sneak attack.

It usually costs just a few turns, but this time it didn’t go as planned, and turned out to be a whole comedy of misunderstanding. 😂

Because math. Also, it’s the average density.

It’s probably some obvious volumetric thing, like how the volume of a sphere increases exponentially when you increase the radius. V = 4/3 πr³. It seems the mass is some radius analogue in whatever equation governs black holes.

It’s also interesting to note that the surface area of a black hole’s event horizon is proportional to how much inormation the black hole contains. This was discussed in a recent PBS Spacetime Video.

The thing is, you have to first create the black hole with the mass of the universe in order to be so large that it has the same average density as air, right? Maybe I’m totally wrong and need to watch the video.

It means the transistors and things are each 2 nm, not the whole chip. Just in case you were confused about that.

Smaller chips requires less power to run.

CrayonRosary,

Indeed. Or play Huntress with that one talent, or Mage, too, after hitting them with a zap.
