Phoronix many benchmarks proves the opposite. There is differences, even at the same Mesa/Kernel version.
The difference between an hyper optimized distro, like Clear Linux (optimized for Intel CPUs), and more general ones (Ubuntu, Fedora) can be huge.
Even between those general purposes distro, the technology choices (filesystem, scheduler, etc.) can make a considerable difference in some games/workloads.
Pedantic? Say the person that immediately assume anyone with a different opinion than his is a morron and did not read his previous message ?
Here is some gaming benchmark. It is from 2022, sure, but is still relevant today to illustrate that gaming performance on Linux isn’t as easy as being the “same software with different configuration”.
And I could go on with other games, which had different results.
There are many variables that can affect those performance. Obviously, the Kernel, Driver and Mesa version has a big influence, but so have some less obvious causes like the filesystem used, the compiler options used, or even the compiler itself. That’s why those performances can vary so much in benchmarks.
Honestly, GW2 is the kind of MMO I’d play on the deck if it was compatible with a controller. It has everything to make a great controller MMO… Except the controlller support.
Hi everyone. This kind of content is allowed on c/games. If there is a lot of content about video-games, it isn’t the only kind of games we accept. Tabletop RPG, card games, etc. are all allowed, and browser games are too, as soon as there is no spam occurring.
Still, we’d appreciate a heads up before starting to post recurring contents (especially daily content) in order to prevent anything becoming too prevalent.
I would like to buy new earbuds (for android), I’ve got 2 before a xiaomi one and the Donner dobuds one, the two broke after 6 months… Does someone has any recommandations? My budget is maximum $50 Thank you
As Samsung bundle them with every flagship phones, there is a plethora of them on ebay for cheap. Most of them are basically new, and for that price is is quite the banger.
It would have been harder to support Ukraine if they went and killed thousands of innocent Russian before being aggressed by Russia. But they didn’t.
Most of the west do support the right for Israel to defend itself from such attack, but there is no doubt that Israel went way to far with their riposte. No matter if the Hamas uses the Palestinian as meat shield, Israel made so many “mistakes” and killed so many innocents that it should have asked long ago for the UN to intervene in their place to avoid further unnecessarily killing.
I never denied Palestinians right to defend themselves. They are oppressed by an apartheid-like regime (no matter how democratic it is), and have every right to denounce that. But I can’t either blame the Israeli to try to defend themselves when Hamas goes and assassinate men women and children in cold blood. No amount of oppression can justify this kind of violence.
And now we got Hamas hiding behind the starving Palestinian population, while Israel indiscriminately bomb everyone with no care for their safety.
In the end we have two evil fighting each other, while the general populace (especially Palestinian) suffers. I can’t support either, best I can is to support ending this senseless war to allow those who suffers to rebuild and seek a peaceful solution that bring everyone together as equals. There was multiple time in history where we were quite close to a solution, but every time, extremist of both side went and fucked everything over.
Depends on how it is used. But I don’t think it should be used for the matching process itself though. Maybe to help match interest (tags) between each other, like giving a connection score between two of them, but other than that, I see no other privacy respecting way to use that.
Moreover, on which data would we train on? I don’t think there is any anonymized dating app dataset around.
As stated my someone else, it is a fairly mid-sized game. The map is rather small, albeit with various vertical level that stays inaccessible until you catch specific monsters. But all of them lacks variety. You either get grassy plains, scarce forest, automnal forest, forest or water. Oh, and a mountain too. But once you’ve got accustomed to the grass/forest part, it gets boring quite fast. I’d really like to get a desert/sand biome, a rocky one, and the likes. And they even have the lore excuse to be lazy with the placement, they don’t even have to make it logical.
Supergiant is probably the only studio I’d still buy an early access from, even day one. Even when I end up not liking it that much (like Pyre), it is interesting enough to be worth the asking price.
To this day, Hades is still my most played game on the Switch (I even managed to get a physical copy), and I will probably do the same with Hades II… Maybe on the Switch 2, who knows 😆.
Gaming vs Regular Distros
TL;DR: Is there really a performance benefit to a gaming distro over a regular distro? Or is it more of a “this is the least work” to get setup?...
