And AMDs encoder has improved since the r9 3xx and rx 400 series days, but its still.. not great compared to competitors. Maybe its gotten good enough though. I aint buying her Nvidia so guess we'll see :/

genuinely anyone who doesn't have bean counters or people caring about things like support contracts and utilizing existing vendors (i mean, if you have purchased a decent amount of stuff from dell for instance they will actually give you a lot better deals and cut out a majority of the super high prices listed on the website) you can get enterprise grade rackmount upses from places like https://excessups.com/ all my home upses are from them specifically lol just the ebay store and the online store. costs so much less than a brand new system and i've been able to buy things like my apc smart cards separately, install them and have functioning upses. i run the runtime calibration tests on them and if i really needed to replace the batteries i'd take them to a battery place. i hate people who are like "oh yes you must buy brand new from APC otherwise you will get subpar performance". no? my refurb batteries actually match apc spec from the website ​:neocat_woozy:​

@puppygirlhornypost I agree with not letting google lead and dominate like some hyper corpo, but the quoted examples arent things that pretty much only improve the user experience. Like, the invention of RTX video and its support doesn't make anyones life worse, hell it makes my job as a streamer better because people can get a higher quality stream than I can even physically provide (cus fuck twitch and their limited res/bitrate options)

I guess I just dislike the vibe of "ai anything is bad" and "if I dont use it, it must be a terrible addition"

I feel like the fediverse would be more accessible if there wasn't this all encompassing power known to squash small instances and alienate them from the rest of the crowd. I hate how we just accept that is a thing that happens here, and we know how bad it can get when someone gets stomped on by them. Yet, all we do is offer our condolences because we are utterly powerless to stop it. The fact that people who have not gathered the attention of Eye of Sauron are held back from discussing it due to the fact it guarantees that you'll be squashed by the all encompassing power. This very much feels like what I've only read in history books regarding things such as the secret police.
