Just had this Lather Catcher show up last night. I’m absolutely in love with it. Heljestrand’s have such nice steel and I haven’t met one yet I didn’t love. I have no idea why, but Lather Catchers just drive me crazy. I think they’re so neat....
So, I got excited, and didn’t anticipate well how profound the knot would sit in the handle. The knot is glued in with silicone (maybe a little bit too much), and I would like to rescue both knot and handle without damage....
Try starting with the razor flat against your skin, then increase the angle (with no pressure!) until the razor starts catching the lather. That’s the angle you want to keep. Start on the cheeks - where everything is flat, and only go to more demanding areas once you are comfortable on the cheeks with the grain.
I just had this land, but moments ago, in from Spain. Managed to snag this NOS Iberia 14 Doble Temple. I’m looking forward to giving this thing its first edge.
I’m continuing (and finishing) my stagging weekend. It’s still sunny outside, but not as warm as yesterday. The pollen in the air is not impressed by the cold, as my allergies can tell you.
Most artisan soap comes in plastic tubs - though some sell refills (Stirling being among them), which you can store however you like.
I would recommend getting a few samples from Stirling (which are 1 ounce sized): they are good value, and you can test a bit what kind of scent you like. You can also look a bit around here what soaps people are using. I would just recommend avoiding Ariana & Evans, whose soaps have a tendency to provoke fragrance burns.
For beyond basics, I don’t know – maybe try witch hazel as an after shave?
Watched it, thanks! Great video, with very helpful illustrations, and you dumbed down the material science to the point where I had the impression understanding 😂
You seem to be on your way to wetstonetube fame - continue the good work!
