PS Skye said nope nope nope to the safety goggles 😂 with three delicate ladylike SkyeSlams 😂.

As many know, Skye has had 3 corneal ulcers in the last month, including one bad one. The vets keep asking me what has changed. Honestly, there is only one thing.

The last 2 bags of Oxbow Orchard grass has been filled with these pieces I’m now picking out ⬇️. She has had the soft Oxbow grass all her life.

I mentioned to the vet tech. She said “oh! I just had an email Oxbow has come out with a line of soft, handpicked hay. You could try that!” I can’t help but think the timing is interesting..

@cazabon Exactly. So very disappointed as Oxbow has always been great. 😔 Checking their website and reading about hand picked hay- apparently they pick out the “twine” pieces and they’re using that as a selling point??

I can’t believe they’re admitting the peasant hay has dangerous twine. Two-tiered hay system, who’d have thunk! Those with $4 more, no twine. The rest- let them eat twine!

I’m resting now and pondering how today is a much better day. How did yesterday go oh so very so wrong, anyways?! Mum promises no vets, no X-rays, no weighing and no other indignities today. 💕 -Skye

Here I am, after my vet visit.❤️ I have eye drops for a week and I have some painkillers to fix me up good. They trimmed my nails and gave me my vaccine. I had an X-ray too because she thought my tummy was sore. It turns out I have a bit of arthritis in my back although it doesn’t bother me unless some vet contorts me in weird positions. 😑

I will be okay! 😉 I’m just thrilled to be home.🥰BunMum’s nerves and heart on the other hand,are a wreck, she’ll be trying to recover tonight. 💓

Like all of us, Skye is a bun of many moods! She can switch from cuddly (left is listening to Violet’s human’s Exploration Dreamland last night) to aloof (right is the night before last- check out that body language! And yes I had cleaned the loo FIVE MINUTES BEFORE 🤣).

Interestingly, when she hears Sarah’s voice, she comes hopping over quick, she knows it’s cuddle/story time. 💜

Hiding behind her loo so only the ears show, ears are up.

Our hock socks arrived! They're soooo cute 😍. I've got bananas and dinosaurs, and we ordered for Patchy too, he's got space invaders and sunflowers/bees - it'll help him with his hops! @RainCityBunnies @PennyPatch Hock socks are great protection when your hocks get sore! Sometimes it’s related to the environment buns are in, but most often for us careful, loving parents it’s just something that happens despite all our best efforts.

We have padding under everything here- and more cushion under padding. We also have layers of flannel/other softness, but Skye STILL gets dry and sometimes irritated hocks, especially one side. So far it’s been managed with some prescription oil.

@PennyPatch @RainCityBunnies I’ve noticed that too, Skye likes firmer spots as well 😂! We try to lure her into softer places under structures with a ceiling, but if she had it her way she’d sleep on top of her hard plastic bunny pigloo all the time (at bedtime years ago when we first got her and tried the house out ⬇️) 🤦🏻‍♀️. She has long since had a plush bed 😂.

In our hostile climate we suspect dryness plays a role, too. (Most humans get nasal polyps too, from the extreme dryness!😖)
