Having never owned a house or really had a yard of my own, I got pretty excited and decided to do some ad-hoc landscaping. Built some raised beds for vegetables, and just laying in some organic shaped in-ground beds for low water decorative plants. Gonna fill the rest in with gravel. Any pointers?
Not a homeowner myself yet, but one nice thing could be to out down gravel that’s walkable barefoot. Idk about the rest of peeps, but I used to live in a house that had quite sharp gravel and it was almost obligatory to walk with shoes. If I were you I’d go with some light coloured shingle that’s nice for barefoots. Just my first thought :)
Please do keep us posted with updates of how this turns out!
I also love the connection between the gutter into the flower/herb bed too! Although maybe a “better looking” solution could be something to look into in the future. Great work!
Kind of curious what tech people own, everything from small to big tech. Assuming solarpanels are a given for a lot of peeps here, or maybe will be in the future. But what other tech do you own that you’re happy with?
Wow! Thanks for sharing! LOVE that logo you spray painted onto the laptop - a nice touch. Did you design the logo yourself too? It should totally be the logo for the Solarpunk Technology Community!
Also; had never heard of Movim before, seems like quite the cool project - am also planning on startin my own blog so this might be the perfect solution for me :)
Glad to hear about this! Everone has to start somewhere :) I am upost interested in these podcasts you mention, am an avid podcast enjoyer myself, so if you wouldnt mind sharing which ones you listen to?
Ah yeah, also keeping most things in the “format” of wood here haha, just feels like much better quality most of the time and lasts longer, thinking specifically about kitchen utensils.
I know free vpns usually are not good, but right now I am not in a position to pay for a vpn. I found Privado VPN and it doesn’t keep logs and is based in Switzerland. It has a data limit for free users, but do you think its safe for torrenting?
Hi there, as someone who is writing his master thesis on the privacy of fee vpns. I cannot recommend a single one. By that I mean the ones that advertise themselves as being a mainly free vpn. I have not had a look at privado in specific, but would highly recommend sticking to Proton. Their vpn is also fairly priced if you ask me.
Addtionally, if you want to quickly check out an app to see if they use excessive amounts of permissions(based on manifest file), and the implemented trackers they have you can use Exodus Privacy Tool; reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/…/latest/
Have sadly not checked these out in detail, however they do seem more promosing that the general free vpn one find by looking up “free vpn” on Google Play Store. Neither of them use excessive amounts of permissions, and the permssions they do ask for seem to fair to ask for. Neither of them have trackers implemented too which is nice. I would trust these more than other ‘completelty free VPNs’ atleast. However I’m only judging of first impressions and a quick look at their permissions. I’m assuming they lack features, speed etc…
If you want trust and transparency then options like Mullvad, Proton and IVPN would be my suggestions.
I’ve been through the same distro as you’ve mentioned in your post. With my own various issues. I switched to Bazzite a few months ago and could t be happier. It’s by far the easiest Linux distro I’ve used, everything is set to work out of the box and the system cannot be borked. Bazzite also a great community behind it and murliple talanted people pushing this to be the best optimized gaming distro.
While Nobara is great in its own ways, and GE being an absolute legend for his work. I personally don’t see any upsides to using it over Bazzite if you’re mainly going to be playing games.
Do yourself the favour and try this before trying Nobara, just my two cents.
Hello! I recently listened to a podcast that talked about how storing media files in .av1 format is very efficient and storage-friendly. I’ve been storing my files in .mkv format, but now I’m considering using Handbrake or a similar service to convert all my video files to .av1 if it’s more compressed than .mkv. So;...

It's incredibly ironic that ChatGPT constantly asks me to verify that I'm not a bot
Literally every single time I try open their app, I get asked to click the button again to verify that I am indeed human....
