From the manual:

The Clear CMOS button located on the rear I/O can be used to revert BIOS settings to default. To clear CMOS, turn off the power and remove the AC power to the power supply. Allow 30 seconds to ensure no standby power exists. Press and hold the Clear CMOS button for 3 seconds.

Did you do all of that? I have read elsewhere that reset buttons sometimes don’t work the first time (or at all), so make extra sure you’ve cleared out all the power from the motherboard and CMOS. Some people have even had to completely disconnect the battery.

If you’re sure that you’re sure you’ve cleared the CMOS, then you should move on to testing the problematic parts one by one. If that CMOS step didn’t fully discharge the power and force a reset to default, it could be that the saved settings got fucked up, and it’s now trying to use corrupted settings (instead of the default fallback ones).

If that doesn’t work, you might try to see if you can do a BIOS upgrade via flashback, which might reset your BIOS settings to default, after which you can maybe get in and do more troubleshooting.

Gotcha. That makes sense why that might be handy, if you have a lot of communities you keep up with.

Yeah, Mastodon has lists, so it’s definitely a feature that is possible to add server side.

I agree, that would be handy, though I think the original design was to allow one to rise to the top organically (i.e. people are more likely to join the community with the most members). I don’t know how that’s actually playing out in reality, and having the ability to group them all would be useful.

Nobody focuses on “black carbon,” because we can’t prevent wildfires, as they are a natural occurrence even without climate change. They are happening more frequently due to climate change, and firefighters try to control the burn in various ways, but it’s a lot easier to work on the human-sourced CO2 and Methane than it is to address wildfires. The frequency and effect is a symptom of our own output.

If we can get a hold on our own emissions, wildfires will become less frequent as well.

That’s one of the things I meant by “various methods,” but a controlled burn isn’t preventing the burn itself, just (hopefully) its spread. The fire is going to happen regardless, because it’s a natural and necessary occurrence.

If our various governments could be bothered to actually penalize the worst polluters and invest in actually clean energy sources, the wildfires would sort themselves out; we’re the ones that are making them worse.

Right. I agree that controlled burns are necessary, and firefighters already do them. My point is that those things are addressing the symptom of increased wildfires, and people are “ignoring black carbon,” because it’s not a viable path towards meaningfully addressing that specific issue.

Wildfires won’t ever completely stop just because we switch to 100% green energy, but this article is looking at the problem from the wrong end.

And sometimes it’s used to create a barrier so the fire encounters a span of spent fuel to contain its spread. It’s still just addressing the symptom. The author seems to be under the belief that people are ignoring “black carbon,” when in reality, things like controlled burns never stopped. Nobody is ignoring it, and its increased intensity and frequency is a symptom of the climate change we’re causing.

It’s like arguing that we need to cool the oceans. Duh. We’ll do that by focusing on the core problem of our emissions, and we’ll still have work to do as the climate recovers (should we make it that far).

I don’t have any leads, but it’s really easy to do yourself. I just did my first time ever a couple months ago for this season of mowing.

If you don’t find what you’re looking for, don’t sweat the effort required. Took me about an hour with zero experience, and it would probably take me about 30min this next time. Just be really careful you don’t lose the pawl in the axle for the blades (you need it in place to make the crank work), and pay attention to its orientation in case it falls out by accident.

This truly sucks, because it’s cutting off a valid source of information, but given how prevalent the issue is on the internet and how kids have access at a younger age than these ghouls ever did, it’s like trying to stop a river with a single stick.

A good point. It’s why I will always be a proponent of books and libraries. Everyone deserves access to the wealth of information we’ve discovered as a species.

Fallout 76. I’m genuinely surprised how generous the players are, and it’s been generally fun. It doesn’t feel exactly like typical Fallout, but it lives somewhere between Fallout and Metro: Exodus.

Only big downside is the weight limits they put on everything (including your stash box), because that’s how the devs try to encourage players to buy in with cash. You can still run while encumbered, which is a nice change, but it uses AP to do so. Eventually you have to stop and “catch your breath” before you can keep going. Since it also blocks fast travel, it kind of puts a damper on the fun of collecting all the things when you are forced to travel by foot.

Thank you! I bulked several hundred of the heaviest items and sold them to a vendor, and I made throwing knives from the excess steel (and sold those).

I think I should still pare that down, though. Right now, screws are my primary concern, and like you pointed out, I don’t seem to be having trouble with things like lead, cloth, and steel. I do have power armor, and I saved up to get the core recharger, so I should probably make use of that more often.

What are your thoughts on keeping higher level weapons in stash? I have some level 25+ items, but I’m only level 19.

Thanks! That helps a lot. I have a few heavy weapons I’m holding onto that are 45+, so I’ll see what’s worth keeping.

I tend to enjoy the stealthy, long-range playstyle. My favorite weapon so far is a hunting rifle I’ve modded with a long scope and a suppressor (and others mods that boost aim, crit, or reload), and I try to use a plasma pistol for close quarters (because of the chance for nuclear waste); I have an automatic laser rifle and a 10mm subauto as backup, if things get overwhelming. I’m open to suggestions, though!

I play on PC via the Xbox/Game Pass launcher.

Sounds like it’s probably worth the price of “free,” but maybe not beyond that, considering there’s many good VS clones and VS itself is cheap!

I played it for a bit yesterday, and I will say it’s a pretty good clone, though I think there’s some balance issues. However, it has some unique additions not found in the original, so it’s certainly a unique offering.
