It is much more complicated and difficult to explore the depths of the ocean than going into space, given that in space there is no need for vehicles that must withstand these enormous pressures. In space they only have to withstand an air pressure of 1 atm and not a thousand atm in the depths of the seas. A simple crack in the hull and you’re dead before you can say sh…

Is it impossible to be private online? (yewtu.be)

In sharing this video here I’m preaching to the choir, but I do think it indirectly raised a valuable point which probably doesn’t get spoken about enough in privacy communities. That is, in choosing to use even a single product or service that is more privacy-respecting than the equivalent big tech alternative, you are...

Short answer, yes, its impossible, even using TOR network ith VPN and other security measures. We can only minimize our digital footprint, but certainly no one should have any illusions about being able to avoid, with a shitty Laptop or PC, large companies and governments with large data centers, IT specialist squads and even Quantumcomputers can profile us. Absolute privacy on the Internet does not exist, if you want privacy, turn off your PC and read a book.

Publishers are a cancer. Knowledge is meant to be shared, freely. (mander.xyz)

The university should be the place demonstrating socioecological change, serving as a site of experimentation and praxis (see Dunlap et al., 2023). This, however, could not be further from the truth. Beside advancing technologies of digital, political and military control (Chatterjee & Maira, 2014), not to mention genetic...

Luckily there are several tools and scripts to bypass paywalls and also those that redirect to the original publication, when the anti-paywall does not work.

Yes, I did it oftn. But main reason to avoid Brave is the somewhat fishy Crypto Policy and the betrayal of users in the past, redirecting searches to related crypto companies, which shows dubious business ethics regarding the user. For me Brave is simply not trustworth.

Homophobic the CEO Eich, but for the user it’s more important the ethics of the company, questionable in Brave.

How? Using Internet since more than 25 Years result in only ignoring the most new pages.

Windows is ideal for experts, Twilight Zone lovers and desire for adventure, for the rest Linux is better (In the beginning it was the other way around, the first Distros even caused some suicids)

The Doom (Gafa 3D) really works like the original, with some “differences”.

I use Andi, which is enough for my needs, and for sure is the most private and trustworth AI out there (maybe locally hosted apart). It was the first AI chat/search ever, long before the others from Google, Bing and Fakebook. Former LazyWeb.

The human brain has two halves, one left and one right. The problem with US presidents is that in the left one remains nothing right and in the right one are nothing left.

Maybe the old Winamp goes OpenSource, like the old MS DOS. But certainly not the current or last version. Anyway there are several way better FOSS alternatives to Winamp. It’s not a big problem for MS or any other company to release the source of an outdated version which anymore create incommings. In GitHub they still can control Winamp.

futurism.com/memory-that-lasts-forever-new-quartz…

Summary by Andisearch

Researchers have developed a new quartz coin that can store 360TB of data for 14 billion years. This is a significant improvement from the previous quartz glass storage, which could only store data for 300 million years. The technique uses femtosecond laser pulses to write data in the 3D structure of quartz at the nanoscale. This makes it possible to store the whole of human history in a small coin-sized device. The storage system is also very durable, able to withstand high temperatures. This technology could potentially serve as a means of archiving important information for future generations or even extraterrestrial beings.

For the flower it is irrelevant if it smells good or bad, it is a simple question of producing the necessary moleculas for one thing or another to attract the needed insects.

1- 0,99999…

Zerush,
@Zerush@lemmy.ml avatar

Yes, mathematically it’s the same, but in physics there’s a guy named Heisenberg who denies that 0.99999… really gets to 1. There is always this difference, for a mathematician infinite is not a problem, but for a physicist it is, plus a very big one.
