EU elections: They've been at this since 1979 and the media has not learned how to make this interesting. Parties and civil society knows this is the most important legislative assembly on the continent but don't do much to get people to vote. Turnout hardly crosses the 50% mark.

One advice I've given to older Germans about travelling to #Iceland whilst taking their car with them is to spend more time in the Faroe Islands instead.

The Faroe Islands are much better at fulfilling their ideas about heimatromantik, their culture is generally more to their liking and the distances are shorter.

Not to mention that the ferry terminal in Iceland is at the opposite side of the country, (ca. 700 km away) in case you ever want to visit Reykjavik.

The biggest cultural shock after moving to Berlin years ago and something that I will never get used to is attitudes towards sanitation and cleanliness at places that you would expect at least a minimum effort to be made like at gyms, restaurants and furniture shops.

In essence, German business owners love having a Reinigungskonzept but have no idea about the value of or how to clean themselves.

People have said things to me such as: "If you love Palestine so much, why don't you go there and help them out — also I hope you don't get raped or kidnapped hehe".

And all I can respectfully say is that I did in fact spend time working as an UNRWA and UNSG contractor in the region between 2013 and 2015 and did enough free overtime to say I've done more than enough already.

And please stop trying to pit LGBT+ people and the ethnic groups that you're stealing land from together. It's not nice.
