arcrust,

I like the background of B the best. But it looks more like a dog and it’s throwing me off. I like the character of the first one better, especially with the V on the helmet.

So I think I’m voting for A

arcrust,

If i found a genie, one of my 3 wishes would be that reddit was viewed like Wikipedia. It should be a non-profit. I’d gladly donate to keep the servers up. I do that for Lemmy now.

If I want to know something, I’m either looking at Wikipedia for general information, or reddit for specific. The odds that someone else has asked the same question on reddit it weirdly high. Even Google acknowledged that there search results went to shit because of the blackouts. How did we let such a wealth of knowledge get caught up in profits.

I love Wikipedia. Even if it has flaws, it’s by far one of the best things we’ve created a humanity.

arcrust,

It’s very hard to tell, but I’m guessing the middle one is gpu exhaust. So two outs, one in

arcrust,

You should check out brain.fm The whole site is basically non vocal. Music, but it’s engineered to get you to focus. When I first saw it, I assumed it was just some gimmicky way to advertise, but I swear it actually helps me to focus better. But yeah. Sounds like you’d enjoy the music they provide.

arcrust,

Ok telekinesis would be cool.

But I’m going with 2 and 6.

2 because my short term and long term memory is really bad (compared to most other people), which is makes college and work extremely difficult. Also, it’d be nice to remember my anniversary. So a cute would be awesome even if it comes with some downsides. I’m pretty good about accepting things and not getting thing up on stuff.

6 is great because it can be similar to perfect health. I think that can be interpreted two ways, immortalality or perfect health RIGHT NOW. I don’t really want to live forever. That only seems to have downsides. so I’d rather an extra 8 hours in my day where I can devote some of that to working out and eating healthier. I do that now, but I’m too busy to be as consistent as I’d like.

arcrust,

Same here. Steam says 200 hours. Which is a lot for me. The next closest is NMS at 50 hours.

My play time is also higher because I have played many hours offline and then reset my computer so it didn’t track that time.

It’s such a ridiculously addictive game. I regret nothing.

arcrust,

For real. Also 29 and have been taking night classes. After 2 years of school Ive changed my mind again. I just have no idea what I actually want to do.

I grew up always being told I was really smart and would go places. So I’ve built my life goals around trying to do something “grand”. I’ve only recently realized that I don’t HAVE to do anything. It’s OK to just exist and enjoy life. I’m still struggling to fully accept that, but I think I will eventually.

Looking for anime suggestions that don't use super deformed art style

Hey guys, So I know I’m being a little picky here but I’m looking for suggestions. I wanna watch some more shows that don’t, or barely use (looking at you Berserk with Puck), super deformed art style. Most often I see it used in animes of heavier stories that want a way to break the tension. It works, but I hate it. Demon...

arcrust,

I don’t think its that strange. i just don’t find these scenes to be funny and that is what they tend to be used for. Unfortunately, i want to watch shows with overpowered characters, which tend to be geared towards kids who enjoy these scenes more.

Here is a link to some examples from FMA brotherhood. The sharp teeth, deformed characters, etc. It just breaks me from the story. you can convey emotion without monologue just fine. Another link from demon slayer. I get that it is supposed to be funny, and my example is a fairly obvious one. But there was another scene from mugen train where Rengoku is talking and he is getting bigger and bigger. He explains the plan and then while he’s talking, the other characters make a comment about how big he’s become. Three times. Like come on, you can’t just have a serious conversation? it’s like the show doesn’t think you can pay attention for more than 3 seconds, so they have to throw in a “joke”.

I hope that makes more sense. I know most people don’t mind, but i do.

arcrust,

FMA brotherhood is good enough that i can get past it. Still annoys me, which is why (unpopular opinion) I prefer the OG series even though brotherhood has a much better story.

Code Geass and parasite are fantastic! I’ll add these other to my watch list. Thanks!

arcrust,

Added to my list!

arcrust,

Ayyyyy! That’s perfect. Exactly what I was really looking for! Now I know what word to use when looking for something new. Thanks!!

arcrust,

Oh boy. Similar story for my wife and me. Now we’ve got 3 gaiwans, 4 yixing clay pots, and two cast iron pots. And now we do a little tea ceremony everyday. It’s a great way to just sit together and chat without other distractions.

arcrust,

I’ve got two:

“The apocalypse is not something which is coming. The apocalypse has arrived in major portions of the planet and it’s only because we live within a bubble of incredible privilege and social insulation that we still have the luxury of anticipating the apocalypse.” by Terence McKenna

And the other is from an old salty chief when I was in the navy. This is paraphrasing but:

“Every fuck up comes down to a combination of three root causes: didn’t know, didn’t care, or a material problem”

Someone gets hurt on the job? Well, did they not know they were doing something wrong? Did they not care enough about safety? Or was it simply because something broke? Maybe they didn’t know AND they didn’t care to find out.

arcrust,

This comment reminds me of the Eichmann trial. He wasn’t inherently evil like we want to believe. He was just a man doing his job, sending jews to their death. It’s pretty chilling to think about the evils he carried out when he was just doing what he was told to do.

Another somewhat counterpoint, I think in today’s society it’s harder than it traditionally has been. Specifically, I would love to go to protests and be more active. But for me it’s really hard to do that because I have obligations. Specifically, I can’t take a week off of work to go to DC and hold some signs. It’s not that I’m refusing to do anything, I just don’t have the time when I’m more worried about my mortgage. I do donate to charities but it’s very difficult to do much more because of debt.

arcrust,

Up voted for this. I have a bunch of Yolink products. It all works seamlessly. I’ve got motion lights setup. I have my bathroom exhaust fan set to turn on at a specific humidity level. I’ve got their door locks, garage door opener. Hell, I’ve got the float switch set to tell me when my dogs need more water.

They have so many products and they all work together very well. It truly feels like a smart home now and it’s all the same brand so I don’t have to worry about compatibility problems or using a third party software. I do have them linked to home assistant for the few things I have from other brands. But I can’t reccomend Yolink enough

Connect 1.0.68 Released

Hi, Thanks for all the tremendous feedback yesterday. I tried to take that into account and add some of the more requested features. Things to look forward to in this release would be: Improved search options (with tabs for posts, comments, communities, user), user notes section which lets you add global tags to users that only...

arcrust, (edited )

Tha KS for all your hard work! The app is fantastic.

Edit: deleted a bug I found because it seems to work correctly now

arcrust,

The worst is when you KNOW something is the best practice, but no one bothered to write it down

arcrust,

I absolutely love my induction stove. I’ve been Wanting one forever, can’t justify the price to run upgrade my electrical panel and run a 240v line (I have gas now). Finally decided to get a cheap countertop model (duxtop). It’s night and day. Holy shit. It boils water faster than I could imagine. It’s Hotspot is a little small for a cast iron pan, but works perfectly with steel pans. Gets hot very quick, cools off quick. Way easier to clean. I absolutely love it.

Eventually I’ll get a full sized one, but for now, 2 burners is enough.

arcrust,

I love the idea too. But I can’t help but think k “what’s next, put the cpu and ram too? Why not build it with it’s own p/s and monitor. Oh wait…”

arcrust,

The books are absolutely worth the read. One of my favorite series ever. Also, the only series that I felt lied to as a reader. What I mean by that is that I was hinted towards certain theories, but got tricked by the author. Not that he did lie, but the twists and real truth were very unexpected. I absolutely loved it.

This is spoiler-ish, but the sequel books follow another main character as well. Kinda switching between two viewpoints. So i assume the show will do the same. There are some changes from the books to TV but the author was very involved with the show and agreed with all the changes. He did an AMA on reddit before episode 1 aired. I’m very happy with this adaptation.

arcrust,

There is a time jump, more of a “flashback”
