Is 80 years really long enough for Europeans to forget how voting for nazis ends? The current political situation is a demonstration of a profound failure of education over decades.
@phil_stevens NZ exports whole meat carcasses I know I have seen them. Also exported is fruit, veg, cheese, milk, butter. I think that there is a way to make a meal out of that lot that is more appetizing than your suggestion.
I got it wrong anyway. I should have said it was 2 statistics, not 1.
I had baked beans on toast for dinner tonight. It was/(they were?) delicious. Very delicious. Sometimes the old favourites - mine anyway- just hit the right spot. In my university days I would eat spaghetti on toast an awful lot. Can't quite bring myself to buy Wattie's tinned spaghetti these days, but somehow baked beans seem ok.
Budapest, 1974. A happy whistle-blower with poor teeth :-). Actually a train conductor at the Újpest [New Pest] train station on the outskirts of the capital. We used to catch the train from there quite often but sadly, we didn’t seen many, if any, smiling conductors like this one.
For the purposes of Mastodon I'm Absent Without Leave for the next three weeks.
We've reluctantly agreed to use up Richard's three weeks accumulated timeshare on the Sunshine Coast, and I find it difficult keeping up with Mastodon while I'm away from home.
I will still dip in and out, and may even post occasional photographs, but no promises.
Budapest, 1960. The background to this photo isn’t entirely clear, but it is part of a fascinating series of photos from the Budapest Police’s criminal investigation department. My guess is that these three lads were caught with black market goods. They look so young - and more than a little scared.

It's going to be interesting if a high profile convicted felon wants to visit his golf clubs or hotels in countries where felons are routinely denied visas.
Can we petition the Governor-General to sack this government and call a new election.
"We the people believe that this government is not considering the health and welfare of the people of New Zealand and request the Governor-General to dissolve parliament and call a fresh election"
Good news and bad news. The driveshafts are likely to be ready in 3 days, but one of you wrote them a very nasty email which has NOT sped things up, and has instead worsened the situation. I've just had to write in & apologise and I'm really pissed off about it.
