Yeah I think Scorsese is a little naive if he thinks most children will prefer these to more modern animation. But as a cultural restoration project, I’m super happy this is being done.
The old Fleischer Superman cartoons were amazing. I watched them a few years ago and was blown away. So I’m looking forward to watching some of these restored shorts once they’re available.
I agree the title might be misleading but I don’t think it’s clickbait since it’s not meant to be a news article. Do you think it would be beneficial if I tagged it with something like “[Opinion Piece]”?
I thought it was quite enjoyable. It’s a little young-adult and heavily anime inspired so that might not be everyone’s cup of tea. The pacing is very quick as well, especially in term of the Clark/Lois relationship, but I’m a big Superman fan so I was able to overlook that.
The first 2-3 episodes are a pretty good representation of the whole season so if you are interested then it might be worth checking out just the start to get a feel for it.
Yeah, hopefully it can achieve a similar quality of something like TMNT: Mutant Mayhem. Probably will do pretty well in theaters. I think a lot of parents are going to take their kids to watch this.
How is the size of Lemmy’s userbase changing? Is it growing or shrinking? How diverse is it? What do the current trendlines look like as we approach a year since Rexxit?...
So basically, had a massive spike during the reddit blackout in July last year. Dropped down to half by November and has since shown fairly steady (if measured) growth. I think that’s a good sign.
Seems super random. I never played any of the games and from what I can gather it doesn’t seem like a particularly well known franchise. But the fact that Titmouse is animating and Mike McMahan (of Star Trek: Lower Decks fame) is one of the creators means I’ll give it a chance.
Me when Magneto and Gambit are removed from the opening: 😭
Me when Nightcrawler is added to the opening: 😀
Edit:
Okay now that I’ve watched the episode and had some time to digest, I think it was pretty good. About the same level as episode 4. Overall, while it had some great moments such as Storm finding her inner strength and subsequent transformation, I feel like the Lifedeath story was a bit of a letdown. I’m not sure what it’s like in the comics, but I think some of the emotional stakes of the story didn’t hit home for me because I didn’t really feel the strength of the relationship between her and Forge. Having said that, goddamn does her theme slap.
I was surprised Xavier was still alive. Having not seen the original it came as a bit of a shock. Him schooling the Shiar in the Astral Plane was fun and the vision he got of Genosha’s downfall was pretty haunting.
Adapting a nature documentary is so funny but it could be interesting. It’s also really funny that I’m already seeing people complaining that this was greenlit but Coyote vs. Acme is still shelved.
I have a real soft-spot for Morrison’s new X-Men since that (and the X-Men Evolution tv show) was my introduction to the characters. The art won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it has interesting ideas, excellent plotting and character work. In particular I loved the characterization of Jean, Logan and Emma in this run.

Gives a very superhero vibe to me. Clearly a lighthearted Transformers cartoon aimed at a young audience.
