Why it matters: Team Biden knows that they need to drive up the president’s numbers with Black and Hispanic voters – and convince them to turn out on election day.

Driving the news: The emerging strategy was on display Wednesday, when Biden traveled to Milwaukee to highlight his administration’s investment in Black-owned businesses.

  • On Friday, the White House announced that Biden would grant clemency to 11 people who were serving “disproportionately long sentences,” for nonviolent drug offenses, including those with long crack cocaine convictions, a key priority for the Congressional Black Caucus and civil rights groups.

By the numbers: To reassemble his winning coalition from 2020, Biden needs to dramatically improve his standing with Black, Hispanic and young voters.

  • Several recent surveys put Biden’s level of Black support in the low 60% range, a shocking development for a demographic that supported Biden with 92% of the vote in the last election.
  • His approval rating among Hispanics is even lower, at 33% in a recent Pew survey. Former President Trump leads Biden by five percentage points in the demographic, according to a new CNBC survey. In 2016, Biden won 59% of the Latino vote, according to exit poll data.

Zoom out: From the outset of Biden’s presidency, top officials have viewed local and specialized media as a tool to circumvent national new organizations and speak directly to voters.

Zoom in: Earlier this month, the Biden campaign released a new ad, previewed by The Root, highlighting the administration’s efforts to help Black farmers.

Justice Democrats are not willing to fight for it, so I don’t think Genocide Joe would even bring it up.

Half True that Biden would veto Medicare for All, this was during 2020, when Bernie Sanders.

Not too sure on that, may be 2018 or comparing to Clinton numbers? Quote that has 59% and mentions hispanics below.

Biden received the support of 92% of Black voters, nearly the same as Clinton received in 2016 and Democratic candidates for the U.S. House received in 2018.

While Biden took a 59% majority of the Hispanic vote, Trump (with 38%) gained significantly over the level of support Republican candidates for the House received in 2018 (25%). To be sure, Hispanic voters are not a monolith; there is substantial diversity within the Hispanic electorate.

Recent polling from The Economist and YouGov shows the startling difference in Americans’ views of China by age group. Roughly 25% of Americans aged 18 to 44 said they view China as an enemy, compared with about 52% of those 45 and over (see chart). Almost as many young Americans said they view China as “friendly” as those who said the country was an “enemy”. Just 4% of older Americans see China as friendly.

Meanwhile, views of China among partisans are shifting. Republicans have long been more likely than Democrats to view China as an adversary. But both parties have become more hawkish. When Donald Trump took office in 2017, just 10% of Democrats and 20% of Republicans said they believed China to be an enemy. As of last week, 34% of Democrats and 48% of Republicans took this view.

The actual raises for the four new locality pay areas are:

  • 5.28% for employees in the Fresno-Madera-Hanford, California locality
  • 5.25% for employees in the Reno-Fernley, Nevada locality
  • 5.46% for employees in the Rochester-Batavia-Seneca Falls, New York locality
  • 5.31% for employees in the Spokane-Spokane Valley-Coeur d’Alene, Washington-Idaho locality

Federal employees working in the national capital region will receive a 5.31% raise.

Currently, the Federal Salary Council reports that federal employees are earning about 27.54% less in wages than those in the private sector with similar occupations. At this point, it would cost $22 billion to bring General Schedule salaries in line with the private sector, the President’s Pay Agent reported in October.

Great counter to Rectenwald’s private military idea:

YT comment posted by: @profe3330

@shannonsmith6806 Think about it though: can we really say who’s running whom? Is the state in control of Lockheed Martin, or is Lockheed Martin in control of the state? And what about existing privatized militaries like Blackrock - are they really any better or worse than our wholly discredited military machine?

The trouble with Libertarians is that they don’t seem to realize that the state is ALREADY in thrall to the corporate sector, and that this is pretty horrific state of affairs.

O’Leary points out that while vaccines have been used as political tools in recent years, most parents care more about what their medical provider says than any politician. Talking to parents at health visits about the importance of vaccines is important.

But all of these have been fuel cell electrics. Kawasaki is thinking combustion, which it can, because it’s already got the key building block: the only supercharger in the production motorcycle world, complete with “a 130,000-rpm custom-designed impeller forcing one and a half bathtubs full of air every second into the gaping maw of a 1,000-cc inline-four combustion engine.” I’m quoting myself there, from the video below, in which I first rode the gasoline-powered Kawasaki Ninja H2 and frightened myself dangerously close to orgasm.

But the key thing to note is the oversized hard panniers; that’s where the hydrogen is stored in high-pressure gas cylinders, five to a side. If it worries you to have a famously explosive gas positioned next to each bum-cheek in the event of a crash, well, car companies have already put hydrogen tanks through crash testing for vehicles like the Toyota Mirai and Hyundai Nexo, and they’ve come up with five-star ratings.

So Kawasaki has built the first hydrogen Ninja H2, and will begin testing it next year. We don’t have data yet on practical things like how much hydrogen it’ll carry, how much power it’ll make, how much it’ll weigh or how far it’ll go, which will be very interesting to find out.

It’s part of a HySE initiative the company has entered into with fellow Japanese motorcycle powerhouses Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki – which also includes the Big Four teaming up on a hydrogen-combustion ATV that’s slated to race at next year’s Dakar Rally.

Yes, it does look big. Seems to be the hydrogen storage tanks.

Seems you posted an unpopular opinion.

I prefer mechanical buttons, for essential functions of a device/ machine.

Technology/software break down, nice to have the option of manual control.

TV companies can hide them in the back, so that is a design problem.

@jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world avatar

That is awesome!

My PC display has the joystick.

I prefer traditional, but anything is better than not having any buttons!

Thank you for info and have a great day!

This is a song titled: 369 - Before They (Animation with lyrics) [2:23 | Loyalty smith]

It would go better fit under a music community and/or hiphop as well.

Seems account is new and posting on wrong communities.

DNC was sued over the Bernie Sanders 2016 politicial era. DNC is considered a corporation.

Justice Democrats were the “progressives” elected to change the Democrates, if you follow how they vote and talking points changed over the years, the party changed them not the other way around.

Sabby Sabs had the lawyers of the DNC Fraud Lawsuit.

The video is much more than these two, the lawyers themselves even explain why they don’t like or would vote for any of them.

Any politician needs to earn the vote, and should be highly criticized instead of defended.

Many of us ex-Bernie supporters learn that the hard way, even if we have to learn it multiple times over until we fully understand US politics.
