Got two Turing tables and some microcode.

I work on back-end server-y type stuff at a place that keeps rockin' the free web. I like rust, python, and horrible puns (not necessarily in that order).

I tend to be nice for selfish reasons (I don't like hanging out with jerks).

Is there any good random image generator for Node.js? I'm gonna need a bunch of media files to load test something.

@thisismissem

If you don't care about the actual image, could you just dump random noise into a JPG or PNG engine to get what you want?

    @Alice

    I'll have you know that I fancy myself looking like a model.

    But, that might just be because I'm currently covered in glue with some poorly applied stickers.

    Very amusing seeing Frank taking a victory lap for Twitter when the Mastodon thread consistently has more boosts and favourites.

    @GossiTheDog

    For some, just making a lap is a victory.

    So, real question for my fellow geeks.

    I have a older video card. It works "well enough" to drive most uses for a single 4460x1440 monitor, where I don't really play a lot of AAA games (Powerwash Simulator is about the height of it).

    I've recently started mucking around with some AI stuff locally. Is it worth getting a more recent card that might be a bit better or just stick with what I've got?

    Heh, well, silence == consent, I guess.

    Updated the graphic card to a RTX 4060.

    It goes into Lubuntu just fine. It's also smaller than the older 1070, which is nice.

    Side note: Suddenly my locally hosted LLM doesn't eat 35% of my CPU and responds much faster.

    Fancy that!

    Honestly, if LLMs are basically 17 year olds that just got a B+ on their finals, RAG feels like they just bought in to the "Do Your Own Research" crowd.

    It's San Jose, I saved you a click.

    This does not surprise me.

    I have an account on NextDoor.
