? I read Return to Monte Carlo by Cate Wells. (KU) It's dedicated to Lucy Monroe and well, IYKYK. 😁 Basically it's an updated, subverted, and pretty kinky version of the classic "withdrawn Italian husband with horrible family" Harlequin Presents and I was here for it! Though the ending was a bit abrupt. It's set in the 80s for extra descriptive fun. (Just like an old HP!)

@willaful @romancelandia @romancebooks OMG, I love that idea! As someone who definitely knows, I might need to look that up.

I'm listening to The Duke Undone by Joanna Lowell, which I 100% got on sale from audible because it's narrated by Mary Jane Wells...my favourite historical romance narrator. So far so good!

@willaful @romancebooks @romancelandia I've been listening/reading Burn For Me by Ilona Andrews as part of a "recommend me a book" readathon for the reading challenge. I'm definitely enjoying it, even though it's a bit out of my wheelhouse. Hopefully my library has the next books in the series.

? Tramps and Vagabonds by Aster Glenn Gray & am so happy to be loving her books again. Like The Sleeping Soldier, this explores attitudes about male affection/same-sex activity in the past--this time the 1930s Depression. As always, it's very immersive and touching, sweet despite very tense situations. The happy ending is a bit abrupt; I'd have like to see more thought process for the characters. But generally I loved it.

@willaful @romancebooks @romancelandia @bookstodon listening to Book Lovers by Emily Henry, though I need to hurry up because it's due back at the library soon. I always love Julia Whelan's narration.

And am halfway through Until It Fades by KA Tucker, as part of a "recommend me a book " for the challenge I participate in. I'm loving it, it's keeping me up til the wee hours because I'm too busy to read during the day right now.

@ElleSabine @romancelandia I loved Kiss Her Once For Me by Alison Cochrun, though you might want to save for winter.

If you like YA, The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding.

Historical, The Lady's Guide to Celestial Mechanics by Olivia Waite.

And if you don't mind light romance, Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree.

I have quite a few on my TBR I haven't gotten to yet...

I've only read 0.5, 1, and 1.5 of the series so far, but I'm really enjoying it! It's definitely one I want to get back to.

I don't read a lot of historical either, I usually have to listen on audiobook b/c the language trips me up. But I have enjoyed some Lisa Kleypas and Tessa Dare as well so far! Basically if Mary Jane Wells narrates, I'm in.

I recommend checking out the Destiny series by Beverly Jenkins if you haven't already!

@Diva007 @romancelandia @romancebooks OMG, YES!!! You are speaking my language, and Martin is such a perfect Cinnamon Roll!!

While I'm still not sure what sets a cinnamon roll apart from a beta hero, they are always going to be #1 book boyfriend material for me.

Some faves:
Jamie from The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna was a great grumpy version.

Ren from Always Only You by Chloe Liese (as mentioned by @notTheAudience)

(1/2)

@Diva007 @romancelandia @romancebooks @notTheAudience
Zafir from Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert (also a bit grumpy).

Beau, Roscoe and Jethro from the Winston Brothers series by Penny Reid

Alec from Not Your Average Friend Zone by Cassie Mae

Ethan from The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan

S'bren from Penny's Protector by Ruby Dixon

Daniel from Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez

And I'm sure I have a gagillion more, but I first read it in Meet Cute Club by Jack Harbon

@herhandsmyhands @notTheAudience @Anthro_CLH @Diva007 @romancelandia @romancebooks @OliviaWrites Yes!! That's a great way to distinguish cinnamon roll! I think mine all still count, though Jamie and Zafir might be borderline.

@Diva007 @romancelandia @romancebooks definitely have a soft spot for this trope as well... even if it can feel ridiculous sometimes.

My recs back:
With You Forever by Chloe Liese
Bayou Beauty by Lexi Blake
Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas

On the 24th day of I would like to thank Penny Reid for the . Each brother has unique traits and they find their HEAs with interesting & intriguing FMCs. Basically, I fell into the rabbit hole and devoured most of the spin offs. I just might be obsessed! My fave brothers are Beau and Roscoe.

Do you have a favourite Winston brother? Or perhaps recs for a similar series about one family?

@Diva007 @romancelandia @romancebooks yes!! Beau, Roscoe and Jethro for me! Give me a any day and I'm there!

I don't really think I have any recs for big families. The True North series by Sarina Bowen has some bigger families with very different characters, but it's less quirky...though I do really enjoy it as well, just for different reasons.

#DailyDiva

Didn’t ever think that #Academia would be a sexy #WorkPlaceRomance setting, but the following books proved me wrong!
“Office Hours” by Katrina Jackson;
“(Trust) Falling For You” by Charish Reid;
“Absolute Lovers” by S J Hooks (Please note, this is a Student/Professor romance).

If you have any recs in this sub-genre, please do not hesitate to share them in the comments. Thank you in advance

Just about halfway through #RomanceAwarenessMonth!

@Diva007 @romancelandia The Missed Connection by Denise Williams is a novella in her Love and Other Flight Delays series that totally fits the bill. It was my favourite of the 3.

My other rec is Heart Smart by Emma Lee Jayne. That one hit all my buttons.

I will definitely check out your recs!

@Diva007 @romancelandia @romancebooks the first time I figured out it was an was reading Hot Licks by A.M. Arthur. It's a steamy M/M/M read, but one of the heroes is demi. It helped me to figure out I'm likely demi myself. I'm still searching out more, but here are some faves (all demi rep):

Kiss Her Once For Me by Alison Cochrun -- F/F.
Role Playing by Cathy Yardley -- M/F, late in life realization.
Paint the Stars by Christina Lee and Nyrae Dawn -- M/M.

@Diva007 @romancelandia @romancebooks also, there was ace rep in a side character in Once & Future by A.R. Capetta & Cori McCarthy -- along with L, G, and NB rep. It was fun. Still need to read book 2.

Diva007, to romancelandia

August is

Day 5: A series I’m currently reading

I’m enjoying the &Veritas series immensely! There are nineteen primary works and I have about six more to go.

While I am not a huge fan of the trope, “Turnabout” by Laurel Greer was so good!

Do you have a favourite in this series?

@romancelandia
@romancebooks

lenoreo,
@lenoreo@romancelandia.club avatar

@Diva007 @romancelandia @romancebooks Turnabout was really good! I've read 14 of them (15 if you count Roommate). My top 3 were Headstrong by Eden Finley, Unguarded by Jay Hogan, and Unforgettable by Marley Valentine.

lenoreo,
@lenoreo@romancelandia.club avatar

@Diva007 @romancelandia @romancebooks oops, I was thinking of a different series I think. Sometimes readers will add a book to a series on Goodreads when the author doesn't technically want them to be (for a variety of reasons), but that's not the case here. Though I think Roommate is supposed to be the first, not the last? Either way it's all in the same world.
