Seriously considering stopping drinking

I donโ€™t even drink that much, or that often. And Iโ€™m not even hung over right now or, like, regretting anything. I just know that itโ€™s seriously hindering my health and fitness.
Itโ€™s just a little hard when booze is such a ubiquitous social drug. Itโ€™s reliable and available at almost any party

Iโ€™ve been talking to this guy, weโ€™ve been hitting it off pretty well โ€” he doesnโ€™t drink at all. Never has. I feel like I could quit the stuff too

Furality was really fun tonight.

Definitely was feeling a lot of the usual kinda drinky party energy, but there was a purpose and direction to it which was nice.

I went to the bat meetup (and got tons of comments on my wing stars ๐Ÿ’›) and it was cool to have a bunch of people kinda socially lubricated and admiring each otherโ€™s avatars.

I think tomorrow Iโ€™m gonna try and hop on early and make some sober friends in the normal Furality world before getting rowdy later on.
Iโ€™m also thinking of setting up one of Venaulโ€™s wolf bases for my werewolf sona to have something shiny and a little on the bigger side than my bat or yeen, but not quite as big as my dragon

One of my favorite lessons of the past few years is that almost ANYTHING can be fixed.

Machines can be repaired.

Fursuits can be stitched.

Relationships can be mended.

Estranged relatives can be de-stranged.

Even if someone else doesn't know something can be fixed, maybe you can help them fix it.

SO MUCH value is just thrown out or written off these days. And I'm not just talking about monetary value.
Learn to repair, learn to maintain, you will thank yourself a million times over

Why do so few mastodon clients support text formatting with stuff like glitch-soc? So strange

lupomancer, to random
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

Actually, could someone with a TON of server space start downloading these so we can have them as a torrent somewhere before theyโ€™re inevitably pulled from YouTube?

I would but Iโ€™m on my last 400GB of server space https://furries.club/@lupomancer/112516256916773759 https://furries.club/@lupomancer/112516256916773759

Yeah, why IS Mastodonโ€™s handling of usernames so weird?

Does AP just not allow for changing usernames for the same account? That seems wild. It couldnโ€™t be using your preferred handle as your entire identifier, could it?

Dude landlords are such scum.

My landlord is literally building a hotel in china right now and he canโ€™t be bothered to reply to our texts to try and get a plumber to come look at a leaky pipe.

Imagine being the proprietor of someoneโ€™s living space, a โ€œjobโ€ you chose, and you have the immense luxury to ignore them because it doesnโ€™t directly affect you.
So what if it water damages the house? You just evict the tenants, do the repair, and re-list the unit for way above what the previous tenants were paying because thereโ€™s no longer a capped rent cost!

A vast portion of my stability in life is in control of someone on the other side of the planet who views me as a glorified night guard who pays them to make sure their investment property doesnโ€™t get robbed or taxed too hard.

@sig.dog@bsky.brid.gy is my bridged BSKY account, which for me to see the interactions on your have to follow @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy

Anything with a yellow exclamation mark doesnโ€™t make it across the bridge unless you follow the account to opt-in!

Iโ€™ve added the ability to check for BSKY accounts bridged to mastodon based on your BSKY follows to my mastodon <-> bsky account finder tool.

Right now the functionality isnโ€™t very useful unless youโ€™re, like, migrating your BSKY follows to mastodon or vice versa, but Iโ€™ve used it a couple times to find people I didnโ€™t know had set up the bridge.

The big issue Iโ€™m running in to now is Mastodonโ€™s rate limiting. You can only do 300 requests every 5 minutes against any given server, which is an issue when my BSKY follow list is ~800 users. Iโ€™ve got a couple ideas on how to get around that, or forgo the need for a request, but itโ€™ll take some testing. Right now Iโ€™m doing a very dirty workaround where I just round robin request the api of multiple large instances (mastodon.social, mastodon.cloud, etc) and limit the requests to max out at 299 per instance.

This is all still on a secondary branch, and it still needs to be boxed up in a UI, but it IS pretty useful

Double reminder about this!

One of the cool things about the bridge is that I can go in and view interactions that arenโ€™t making it past the bridge using this link:

https://fed.brid.gy/bsky/sig.dog/notifications

Unfortunately, because of the way the bridge operates due to fedi users requests, a lot of fedi interactions donโ€™t make it to BSKY unless you do the opt-in.

Iโ€™m definitely seeing a lot of replies that are bouncing off the bridge due to this

I have made a VERY quick and dirty tool to check if people you follow on mastodon have corresponding bridgyfed bridged accounts.

Right now it's literally just a thing you run in terminal with node, but I might put some more work into it later to make it prettier

Just a follow up on this folks: I (or any other BSKY user) canโ€™t see your interactions with BSKY posts unless you follow this account:

@bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy

This is because a bunch of fedi users got upset at the idea of the bridge so participation is OPT-IN ONLY

If you wanna interact with BSKY users, you MUST follow that account or else youโ€™re basically just following an RSS feed of someoneโ€™s posts https://furries.club/@lupomancer/112414677366249953

Upset that a guy called right 5 minutes before the end of my shift, cussed out my dispatcher because I couldnโ€™t work on his machine, then complained to my CEO and manager.

Turns out that guy is the owner of one of the companies we have a contract with.

He scheduled an 8AM meeting with me tomorrow for the meeting he missed this afternoon. Im fully ready to get an earful from 8AM to 8:30 and make no progress on his ticket because he was too busy cussing ME out

Google sucks so bad

Say what you will about Apple junk, but man, itโ€™s nice knowing the Apple health API has been around for almost 10 years and will likely be around for much longer.

Stability breeds developer confidence breeds good integration breeds useful apps.
The quality, stability, and 3rd party support of Apple Health and Apple Watch is probably tied for the biggest reason I stay on an iPhone.

Google fit could have been so good but itโ€™s like they bought Fitbit and instead of integrating the two, they got cold feed and went for the one with brand recognition and killed their own solution off. https://mastodon.social/@arstechnica/112395938118040545
