If only there were an FAA for technology specs, then we'd be treated to gems like:

"Possible spec deviation, I have a number for you to call..."

Turns out I put the water filter back together wrong, whoops. Supposed to be Inlet on the outside of the filter block, with the outlet coming from the centre of the filter. Bleh.

And once that's sorted I'll see about writing an emulator for the NABU Adaptor's 68HC05.

But now, sleep.
(even if I can see people on the same timezone tooting)

Good news! I've got the #NABUPC #NABU Adaptor's QPSK scrambler figured out and reimplemented in C. Next up, the packet format.

Finally figured out what was going on with the water filter. The plumber who installed it chewed out the threads on the top screw for the second cartridge. Joy! So the self tapping screw is being replaced with an M4 bolt and a threaded insert

Hmm. Not even getting warm.

Metcal go brrrrr

New screw, old screw.

Right, that's all back together... Hopefully that's fixed the leak.

Hahaha no, absolutely pissing out this morning. More work to do, clearly.

Didn't have any 30x3 O-rings on hand, but a 28x3.5 stretched over the valve shaft seems to have done the trick. The old one was shrunken and stiff, which nicely explains why it wasn't sealing properly.
Also cleaned up some of the flash from fitting the threaded insert.
Fingers crossed it's sealed this time!

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the design of the top valve, and I think I've said this before. The bypass valve body (the big white thing) has to be held tight against the top of the housing. Everything is made of plastic. What holds the valve against the housing? The valve handle.
What happens if the valve handle wears? The valve body seal loosens.
What about if something hits the handle and dings the plastic? Same.
It'd be forgivable if it had brass bushings, but alas, it doesn't.

Are there any gurus in the audience?
If a program running in usermode accesses the vectors via a data access instruction - what does the 68010 indicate on the function code pins?
Are vector reads escalated to being supervisor code/data reads, even though the code which triggered them is user-mode?

I'm trying to figure out why dereferencing a null pointer is 'fine' on a real but causes problems with the FreeBee emulator (if I disable vector access promotion).

The thing I would most like to understand about is how the organisers and attendees have built such a good culture. I've volunteered for events half the size where the culture boils down to "nobody cares about anyone but themselves", and EMF is a breath of fresh air.

I'd love to understand it so it could hopefully be distilled into a guidebook and duplicated elsewhere.

Just more events where people feel safe to be themselves.

Edit: I don't mean just vol' culture, attendee culture too

Am I seriously considering making 'deep fried buckfast in Irn Bru sauce'[1]?

I guess EMF did have an effect on me...
(I keep missing the "bucky churros in Irn Bru" party)

I mentioned this whole thing to a friend and he asked if one of my (Scottish) partners was visiting.

Wouldn't Quark's holo suites have to be much bigger to allow a baseball game. I mean I see how it works for one person in there - moving the environment around the person, but getting a whole baseball team, or indeed two, and spectators, has to be a challenge!

@philpem@digipres.club avatar

@revk I uh ... hmm.. Well! That's one more bit of suspended disbelief unsuspended! XD

Finishing off an update to my BeebMaster Econet clockbox. The new lid makes it look a lot more professional. Mine is a gen-1 with the PCB mounted in the lid, so I've had to make a 3D-printed PCB holder for it. Easy!

@tubetime It should recognise them if you tell it the chip is a 65C02. The WDesignC 65C02 implements those instructions too (and a few WDesignC specific ones)
